I actually like it better without the shoulder strap- I never like using the shoulder strap on duffles like that anyway because the always flex down in the middle, giving the bag a V- like shape. KWIM?

I did say this in a previous thread, but I don't think this miroir keepall would make a good carry-on. My monogram keepall is soft and slouchy so it fits under the seat in front of me. The miroir keepall is probably structured like the miroir speedy and stands upright. So I doubt it would fit under the seat, and you would have to put it in the overhead compartment. Then you would have others cramming and stuffing their luggage against your bag!
