I think the matte gold is gorgeous!! Is it the same price as the classic medium lambskin? Is this color considered a metallic and would it be susceptible to rubbing off etc?

Gold flap -- keeper!!! I think it's absolutely beautiful, and def. NOT over the top, it will be such an awesome Spring/Summer bag I think you will love it (plus I could see it being an amazing bag with the right outfit during holiday party time )

It depends on how you wear it. Both will look nice dressed down, but obviously not with suits or other work clothes. Both will also be great for nighttime, when that little extra shine will really upgrade an outfit.
But of course, if you feel the classic is too shiny, you won't feel comfortable wearing it, so you might want to look at other colors.
