You know I was thinking about this....he is 19 she is 16....isn't that considered rape even IF she has been consenting?

If this was anyone not famous, I bet charges would be filed against him. Hmmm.....double standard?

age of consent in NZ is 16, i believe.

this is/was huge news over here in NZ. especially after all the crap she said about her wanting to be a positive role model for young maori girls. now everyone is rolling their eyes and saying "lol whatev" - considering that NZ has a shocking teenage pregnancy rate for the developed world.

the legal age to start having legal sex in New Zealand is 15 or 16 - I cant remember... :shame: and I don't think it has anything to do with her being part Maori...

Shouldn't her boyfriend be arrested for statutory rape? After all, he's over 18 and she's well under 18. Where are her parents? Where's her FATHER in all this? Doesn't he stand up for his girl?
