soda. coke also has become the accepted generic term much like "scotch tape".

I say Coke for pretty much every soda, Coke or not

My family lived in Ohio until I was 5. I learned that it was pop. I remember when I was at summer camp and went to the Concession stand so excited for an orange popsicle and asked for an "orange pop" and got an orange drink- an orange soda. So then it became soda... I learned my lesson the hard way and hard no nerve to tell the man I was looking forward to a popsicle not a drink!!!

In NY we call it soda. Here's another thing that gets confusing .... Here in NY we call deli sandwiches on italian bread "heros." I've heard it called "hoagies" in some places. What do you call it where you live?

Umm I've never heard heros but I've heard hoagies a lot but mostly just sandwich. . I really want a sandwich from NY, or pizza, or any other famous new york food right now.

In the South of England we just call them fizzy drinks... I think the northerners say pop..but noone says soda...thats very american.

Soda in the NJ/Philly area. When I lived in Atlanta everyone pretty much said coke when they ordered any type of soda. LOL, it always confused me.
