If someone invented a drug that cured heartbreak...

  1. If someone invented a drug that cured heartbreak with negligible side-effects would you use it if you were suffering?

While I suspect doing so would not be good for developing emotional health, maturity, etc, the times I've been heartbroken have been miserable enough that I suspect I would take it. Yes.
  2. this reminds me of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - great movie!

i honestly don't think i would. there's a song i really like where the main line is "the shadow proves the sunshine." if you don't go through unpleasantness and hurt and heartbreak, you don't appreciate it when the good comes along, and you might miss it altogether or take it for granted because you don't know what to look for, if that makes any sense.
  3. In the moment I might be tempted, but we all know that pain is part of life and without the bad we cannot love the good. So, I would probably pass.
  4. wow..Intense question......I dunno...In all honesty.
  5. I think I could well do without the bad so yes i would take it! LOL
  6. I agree with Amanda. As the saying goes "You can't have rainbows without rain."
  7. Pass. All the good things in my life happened when I was at a position to be looking (i.e. down). Leave that drug alone!!!
  8. Nope!
  9. Love that movie! Although, I wouldn't go so far as to erase someone from my memory, I would take a drug that cured heartbreak... it it were available. Just for one situation that I can think of.
  10. Yes, lots of unfortunate things have happened in my life, but I've learned from them and I'm a stronger person because of it.

So no, I would not take it.
  11. hell yeah! I can't begin to count how much time in my life I've wasted being broken hearted over some guy.
  12. It's been a while since I was aching but I could use a good heartbreak. It would be GREAT for my waistline. LOL
I always remember dropping mucho pounds when I was getting over/falling in love.
  13. This reminds me of the part in Brave New World when John and Musphata Mond debate this issue (among other issues).

I feel that in order to truely appreciate life and to grow as a person you have to overcome certain obstacles and feel every moment of it. The pain may be horrible but it's your pain-it becomes a part of you and shapes your personality and your future choices.

    No, I wouldn't take it.
  14. So true!

By the way, when I was the age of some of the above posters, I too would have said "no" to the drug. Not now. Heartache at a young age was easier to take than heartache at a much older age.
  15. As much as my heart has ached, and continues to ache, I wouldn't, I think heartache with all its emotions has made me stronger and wiser I wouldn't forfeit that for anything in the world.
