Food I ate horse. HORSE!!!!!

AHHhhhhhh i'm so sorry to hear that Cal!!!

but you didn't know there was horse in there ... not like you ate it on purpose! so now stay away from those croquettes and avoid meals with the nail lady! =)

I love red meat but horse is out of the question for me. i love horsese. can't bear to eat horse meat!! I'd be traumatized too!

Ditto. I would try it at least once, actually, I think I mightve had it in europe a few years ago. I think its just because in American culture its not a norm to eat such things. I dont see a diffeence btwn eating horse and cow aside from the fact that its not in our culture to eat horse. It's perfectly acceptable to dislike eating something because youve tried and dont like it, its even fine to not try something and just decide to personally pass on it but its a whole other matter if youve never tried it and bash the idea of eating it. I remeber in grade school when I would bring something like roast duck for lunch and some kids would just take one look and say "ewwww thats disgusting... what IS that?!?!" simply because they've never been exposed to seeing that. Over the years I've learned that respect for other culturea is really important. I try to keep an open mind. BTW, Ive tried frog and aside from the mental image of some thing green and slimy in my mouth, it tastes just like chicken. Youd never know the difference. :graucho:

CAL! Incidentally, do you run faster these days?? Hehehe sorry i'm being corney but i couldn't help it. you can :noggin: me (actually i was going to say you can kick me in the butt but i thought that would be adding too much to it.) can't resist it today. i'm going nuts i think... :weird:

So a horse walks into a bar and the bartender goes, "Why the long face?"

(Sidebar: I LOVE duck! I was talking about duck with a group of my friends and one of them goes, "What's wrong with chicken?" I told her I'd order that if they didn't have duck.)

what's wrong with eating horse? i think it's an anglo-saxon thing, the brits also refuse to eat it. i remember when i lived in canada it was impossible to find horse meat in the anglo pats but it was easy to find in québec.
it's quite common in france, belgium and switzerland. i used to live close to a butcher shop that specialised in horse meat. it's really good, lean and tasty and healthier than beef.
