Help! What do I get my BF for Graduation?

This is so helpful. My BF's Mom just saw the post about the suit and stole that idea... lol! I guess she was having a hard time figuring out what to get him too.

Passerby, he is a baseball fan (Yankee's all the way). Those bags and things are cute. I was even thinking of treating him to game so he could go with a friend or something. Good idea??

Vercase, you had me cracking up over #14!! Probably won't do that one, but I like some of the other ideas!!

Hi kittybag, I'm having the same problem as you--bf's bday is in two weeks! I can give you some ideas though (from past/current experience):

(1) tickets to a baseball game (if you don't live in NY, maybe one when the Yankees come to town? they can even be months away, as something to look forward to!).

(2) you said he's not wearing a watch anymore but maybe he just would like a change? you can get the back of the watch engraved for a special touch.

(3) a nice vacation--or if you can't afford to do that, one or two romantic days away (driving distance?).

(4) a couples massage at a nice spa

(5) a home-cooked dinner!

Best wishes to you--2 years is wonderful!

Love, bags, you mentioned a vacation... and I was thinking about it. What do you guys think about a trip to Vegas? Is that too wild a place (to take him for his graduation)? I have been and enjoyed it a TON! He's never been... so it would certainly be memorable. What are your thoughts?

I think Las Vegas would be wonderful!! A perfect post-graduation trip. I just got an email from the Venetian (never stayed but would love to soon)--Here are their great hotel deals:

Ah! The Venetian! So lovely! I thought it might be a great way for him to de-STRESS! He has been so crazy over grades and finals... well you guys know how it is..

I think Vegas is a good idea for a graduation present. Also, you would want him to have something that he can keep and remember that you gave to him, right? I like the ideas about a wallet, watch, suit, or ipod. If he's EE, he'll definitely have time to listen to his ipod when he's in lab or in front of his computer, he will find it so useful to block out people he doesn't like.
Is he a pretty fashionable guy?

Ginger, your right... would be good to give a "keep item." Since he already has an ipod and wallet he loves here is what I was thinking so far:
- something like a Briefcase, belt, watch, sunnies (something to keep and use) ...... for his graduation
- trip to Vegas, baseball tix....
This is all going to be worth it once I finally figure this out!

Oh.. he is kinda fashionable... not metrosextual though... he wears a lot of tees and khakis (nautica, polo...) But he does appreciate nice things and would probably love to be treated to something fashionable! More ideas?

I'm working in the engineering world....and the BF is in EE....depending on know what type of job he'll do, then it's easier to know if he'll need a briefcase or things like that. For example, if he wants to be design engineer, or applications engineer, where he sticks to the more technical side of his job, then the people he will be working with are not that fashionable, and they're pretty casual...so usually they would not need a briefcase, usually a backpack is sufficient. Plus, if you give him a really nice briefcase with a name, the people he sees most of the day do not appreciate it at all...(my bf and I were just looking at a LV laptop bag, and he was saying that he's going to be made fun of cuz people in the office think it's dumb to spend so much on a bag.) If he is going to go into marketing, or any job that he might need to go see, then it might be nice to get him a nice laptop bag that he can carry...

this one in black would be something that's very practical and still looks good with a suit.

(I asked if he was fashionable to see if he would like accessories more or something practical...he kinda sounds like how my BF would dress)

If he needs new ones, sunnies are nice. My bf was wearing really ugly ones...and I finally got him some new ones and he was very appreciative. Doesn't have to be expensive, just some Raybans or something.

If you know he's going to get a suit, he might need some nice cufflinks too. Pink (Thomas Pink) has some nice ones. And as someone mentioned, a tie, or a nice quality shirt that would last him a while, since they never go out of style.

Or consider a nice jacket/coat that he can use to go to work.

or....as all boys like it, now that he'll have time to play video games after finals and graduation...an xbox 360. but then you have to worry about him not paying as much attention to you....hehe, that's still the reason I'm convincing my bf not to get an xbox.

hope this helps.

Some excellent suggestions made so far - would take care of more than just the graduation gift hopefully  Kittybag, judging from your replies in this thread, you're a polite and sweet young lady, and I am sure your boyfriend will love your choice of gift.

Have you or anyone else heard of this site which I just came across today - it's very interesting:

Check this out:

I like the idea of belts, bags etc custom-crafted. Anyone bought from this site before?

Here's an entry from a blog talking about Henry:

What is he into? Does he like games? comp games? reading? LOL you should know :P

For my bf when he graduated, I didnt really give him anything because we both graduated together

For presents, he usually drops hints about what he wants or I ask him or I take him shopping to select his present!
(lol, I can never figure out what people want, so like for my family or him, I just ask them what they want)

Soooo that's what I buy. But what I do to surprise him is to take him to a play (or something else that's fun) then dinner at a really nice place :P

Ginger, that you so much for the insight!! He is interviewing for R&D jobs, so maybe I will look into a more comfy/durable backpack. Nothing that will get him "made fun of." I didn't even think of that ... hahah! His sister, (who was also stuck for what to get him) is now going to take the cuff link suggestion. Your helping all of us!!

As for the xbox 360 - no no no! He has a playstation 2 already and plays a crazy game called SOCOM (something with shooting and Navy seals and terrorists). He plays this game online and yells at his "clan" through a headset. But, you were right with the fact that he is sooo excited to have a week that he can play a TON of video games. I have a feeling its going to be a rough week for me. LOL, I guess I will just have to spend most of it shopping!

Carson, that is definetly one of the things I am investigating. I see a trip to Best Buy in my future!!

fr2nc1z, he is really into the outdoors. He loves to hike, fish, camp, and anything else you can think of as long as he is outside in the sun. I love the outdoors too.. for our first date he took me on a 20 mile hike! We saw cliffs, waterfalls, and even ice caves where we had a snowball fight in the middle of July!!
After that I knew he was the guy version of me!!

Have you considered a camara? or something from SportingGoods or kidnap him from a weekend and take him camping as a surprise!!!

You can always also surprise him and take him hiking and have a picnic up there ;) and give him his present there
