For those of you who asked why she had to put her Gucci on the floor:
It does depend on the flight attendant, the bag could be ignored, but once he/she decides to tell you to put your bag on the floor, it has to be enforced. She can't just let it go after a passenger refuses, because there are other eyes and ears watching. Non-compliance with a cabin crew member is a federal offence. We all know how narrow the space is between the passenger seats. In a worst-case scenario, any obstruction could cause trouble for a passenger trying to evacuate in a time expanse of, say, 60 seconds. That's why aviation regulations require seat backs up, tray tables locked, carry-ons stowed, earphones removed, etc. It simply isn't safe, just like it isn't safe to drive without seatbelts on so most places have laws against that.
