French Music

  1. Gymnopédie No.1 by Eric Satie.

I discovered this in an episode of How I Met Your Mother. The episode was about how certain drinks affect certain people.

This is how Absinthe affects Robin and later Lily.

  6. Nice to see this thread is still alive... I saw some people name artists that aren't actually from France but do sing in French, and in that list Jacques Brel is super important. In my book, he had one of the greatest voices in history, and a great ability to write brilliant music.

I also like Anaïs, she's quirky and her songs cheer me up.

Serge Reggiani is of course not as recent as Anaïs, but he's great too.

  11. I love all Jean Michel Jarre's music up until 1997.

I also like the 2004 Air album Talkie Walkie.

I'm surprised that no-one has mentioned Desireless, the French lady who had a hit in 1988 with a song called Voyage Voyage:

    Sexion D'Asssault (desole)
    Singuila (c'est trop)

  13. I don't know if you'd call it "beautiful", but I really like the band Kyo. They are french rock/alternative. They are definitely unique.

  14. Charles Azanavour
