Filling acrylic nails - How many times?

I just started wearing acrylic (Solar) nails on a regular basis. I've always worn them for special occasions and vacations, but then I would remove them as soon as possible, because I couldn't stand them. Now that I enjoy them more, I've kept them on.

I have had them filled once already. How many times can they be filled until you need new nails?

If I remember correctly when I would wear acrylic nails, I'd get them filled every 2-3 weeks.

I get mine filled once a month even though they tell me I should go every 2 weeks. They also say you need a new set every 3 months but I get a new set every 6 months.
