I picked up my box leather Kelly from Hermes and asked the SA what color my bag is called and after passing it around, they said it was "marron fonce" which is what I thought. Is there another color called chocolate brown? Or is marron fonce the chocolate brown people refer to all the time. ALso what is the difference with etoupe and marron fonce? Is it lighter? Its hard to tell with people's photos with flash.

How does Cafe compare with the Chocolate Brown? Does anyone know if Cafe is replacing Havanne (yet another brown with reddish tones)?
BTW, Ebene looks almost black is some light and I find it to be very different from Marron Fonce. Etoupe reminds me of a mushroomy mud in shade. Much lighter and cooler toned.

I don't think Cafe has any reddish undertones to it at all. And I think it's radically different than Havanne.

I think they (Cafe and Havanne) are vastly different. I'm just wondering and hoping that Havanne is still a color that can be requested. I see so much Cafe in the stores these days. I haven't been able to compare Cafe to Chocolate Brown, although the SA said they were different but didn't explain how.

Yeah, I'd like to know too. Because my Cafe' Clemence looks just like the brown in a milk chocolate Hershey kiss!
Sorry, I meant, this is my favorite out of the three.
Etoupe is light grey with a hint of brown, but not much. It's a great neutral color and imo, can be carried all year round.
Marron is chestnut in french I believe,at least all the tinned chestnuts in Canada have Marron on the french side of the label?

I can take a picture of my Ebene whitebus, chocolat birkin and etoupe birkin tomrrow for some comparison pictures. tough to do at night...the flash makes it difficult. I don' thave anything marron fonce, but in order from dark to light, I believe it's ebene, marron fonce, chocolat, cafe, then etoupe. Anyone have all colors??? They are all lovely in their own way.
