Cleaning Vachetta!! And question about reporter pm...

Help! How do I clean the vachetta on my reporter bag? Someone told me not to clean it with a damp cloth 'cos it might ruin the material. What do I use? There are black stains that make my bag look ugly and I wanna clean it so badly! I tried using an ordinary rubber eraser and it worked a bit, but not completely! Is that ok or can an eraser ruin the bag?

Also, is my reporter pm okay to use in school or does it make me look like I'm "going somewhere" (like on a trip)?

Honestly, I don't think you can get it all off since the black stuff will already have penetrated the leather surface

There's not much black on it, though. But being a perfectionist, I really wanna get it off. It's only at the sides of the vachetta and on the vachetta part near the handles.
