From my understanding, I believe that the boutiques wld fill in the VAT forms and you just have make the claim at the airport.

it will be good to buy from the duty free shop because you won't have to pay admin fees.

they have a really wide range of variety there...

hi, i've bought a couple of my bags from Bangkok... it is a bit cheaper than HKG and SING.
Vat refund is easy to claim. Just make sure you have your form checked and stamped at the Vat refund office before checking in as they would ask for your item if it's more than B10,000. after that you can claim your money inside the departure hall.

hi ladies! DH will go to bangkok next week. would anyone of you know how much a caviar jumbo would cost there? is it cheaper to buy there vs. U.S.? any advise would be appreciated.

I do not think Chanel in Bangkok will be cheaper than the US at all. People in Thailand when it comes to Chanel, they tend to buy from Europe esp France and UK as much cheaper. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't recommend buying Chanel in Bangkok, its quite expensive even with the 7% VAT return. Here is a list of the prices as of Jun/July 2009

Jumbo Classic Flap Bag (caviar): 112,600 BHT (VAT included) = 3,299.92 US$
2.55 Reissues flap bag (large): 129,500 BHT (VAT included) = 3,794.63 US$

2.55 Reissues:

9.5 " size is 113,800 baht
11" size is 118,000 baht
12" size is 129,500 baht


Classic flab jumbo (calfskin): 112,600 baht
(lambskin): 121,700 baht

Classic flab medium (calfskin): 103,000 baht
(lambskin): 113,800 baht
