Buying makeup: a chore or a treat?

It's fun to play with testers and sample new products/shades, but a chore if I can't find the shade I'm looking for.

For example, I'm trying to hunt down a dupe for NARS lip stain in Sayonara, which was discontinued several years ago (I guess it's appropriately named, hah) and it's frustrating because nothing comes close.

Definitely a treat!! Especially high end makeup (I have recently ventured off into tom ford ugh!)

I am addicted lol but I am at a point now where I don't want to buy anymore until I finish some products off (especially lipsticks).

I am wanting to revamp my makeup brushes though. There are some 6 year old Mac brushes that are beginning to get a bit scratchy on my skin.

Hahaha, honestly I find it to be an annoying pain in the a$$. I'm very picky with my makeup and don't like collecting a ton of products I know I'll never use, so I spend a lot of time testing different products when I'm in the store and it just becomes a nuisance to constantly have to wipe makeup off so I can test another product.

I seriously wish I could just bring the whole store home and try all the products I want at leisure.

It's always a treat never a chore. I almost always have tons of magazine articles pulled out so lots of new or innovative products I am curious about.

I think most people either love make up or don't care very much at all. People who would never buy cosmetics any place but in a drugstore versus people who shop both low end and high end but love the experience of going into Sephora or Nordstrom's cosmetic department.

I had a mother who only wore lipstick and that she used for blush as well. I never once saw her with any eye make up and only for special occasions would she use a Revlon foundation. There were 4 of us daughters but I was the only one who cared about cosmetics and loved them since I was given my first lipstick at the age of 12. It's hard to explain why people turn out so differently.

A big treat for me as well.
My days of experimenting are over and I know what I want and which products work best for me, so I always buy the same things. No stress in choosing and I still enjoy having my new skincare and mak-up.
Sometimes I'll try something new, but only from my trusted brands.

Usually a treat for me but I get annoyed when I need to restock a bunch of basics/every day items at once and don't get to indulge on something new and fun, haha!

But yes, it's an addiction for me and I'd buy so so much more if I was able.

You should try 3 Custom Colored Specialists in New York, they duplicate colors and often have popular color formulas on hand.

If you still have some of the color you can send it to them. They are fantastic in this area and I like their cosmetic line as well. What is great about them is that they never discontinue the colors they have (I believe).
