Birkin Authenticity Question - Lock and key set

  1. I just received a Birkin bag as a gift from my honey. It was bought at the Hermes NY store and shipped me to. I was doing some reading online and noticed that the following guide states the following about the lock:

    Quote:
    2) An authentic Hermes Birkin or Kelly has an engraved lock and key set. The lock will say "Hermes" on the bottom and the keys will be numbered to match the number of the lock and some sets with vintage bags also say Hermes on the reverse side.

Mine has the numbers on the key BUT there is no "Hermes" engraving at the bottom of the lock. Should I be worried that maybe the bag was swapped when shipped to me or is this guide incorrect? What does your Hermes lock have?

I'm going to the Hermes store in LA tomorrow but thought it might be useful to know before I walk in and ask a dumb question. Thanks for responding.

  2. You might get a better response if you posted this in the Hermes sub-forum. Also, photos would be most useful!
