a new handbag book

  1. Well, the review doesn't really judge the book fairly since a look at the author's other titles suggests she may actually be a sociologist? Looks like our crowd might be distracted by the Birkin on the cover. In fact, a more appropriate subtitle for this should be, "it's not about the bag"...

  2. I have that book--it's about 100pp. It's more about the evolution of bags becoming more than just a thing to carry stuff, and the author mentions a few milestones. If you expect to learn much about current bags, it's not in this book, and there is no index in the back to look up brand names.

Ms. Twilly-you're right about the approach of the author--she looks at the subject from a sociological perspective.
