Default Whom Did You Get Your Love Of Clothes From?
For me, it was my mother, a very chic woman who dressed well even to go to the supermarket.

Interested in others' experiences.

My grandmother LOVED clothes, shoes, bags, hats, gloves...
She would never walk out of the house without her hair perfectly coiffed, her makeup on, and wearing either a hat or a scarf. She didn't wear jeans until the late 70s... and then, only around the house.

My mother was my other major influence. When I was very young, we would go to the mall or go shopping and spend all saturday just perusing the stores together. We would seldom by anything - but it was all about spending time together and looking at the pretty clothes.

Between the two of them, I always knew when fashion week was, what the upcoming trends were, and what major icons wear!

My wonderful Mom, who passed away two years ago of ovarian cancer. I miss her so much. She was always dressed nice, was not into designer clothes but always looked perfect. She loved to dress me up when I was little. There are so many pictures of me wearing a frilly dress or matching outfit, carrying a little purse and on most holidays I wore a hat. And also my dad would take me to neiman marcus and Saks 5th avenue to do some back to school shopping. So I guess my mom taught me how to dress nice and my dad showed me where to shop! Love them both!!

I think I acquired my love of clothes on my own over time. Perhaps some of it came from my friend, he is very big into fashion and would always tell me what would look good on me. So in essence I would come about finding good quality brands and nice designers.

My mom and the rest of my family always joke with me saying they don't know where I got my taste for clothing and designers from...it certainly wasn't them. (And I'm not arguing with them) :P

I actually have no idea how I became the 'monster' I am. Both my parents follow the whole comfort over style and my mother has NO fashion sense... both of them joke that I must have been swapped at birth

When I was younger I was a disaster, I had a love of clothes that did not suit me, particularly sequined girly over-the-top items. I think from about when I was 15 onwards (I'm 19 now) I started really thinking about what suited me. It's a natural process I think for some people. I am now obsessed with clothes, bags, shoes, everything!

Definitely not my mom, who is a hippie at heart and thinks people who care (a lot) about fashion are probably shallow. I think I was swapped at birth, too, because ever since I was little, and to my mother's disappointment, I've been the girliest of girly girls. Ah well, at least my sister turned out to be a tomboy.

I'm just interested in aesthetics - in 'how things look' in general - clothes, decor, design, architecture, makeup, all of it. For me I think it was nature, not nurture.

You and I both! I have no idea where mine came from either. My dad has very simple tastes and definitely prefers comfort over style. Unfortunately for him, he has me for a daughter and that means he gets no say in the matter. I have been dressing him since I was high school.

Although I have always loved pretty, expensive things, my love for clothes really took off after Gossip Girl started in 2007. I fell in love with Blair's wardrobe and was determined to dress just like her (I actually own now a huge amount of the pieces she's worn on the show). The rest is history.
