My husband introduced me to my love of clothing. When we started dating i was a jeans and t-shirt person, then he started showering me with expensive clothes as gifts. Once i got hooked i did the rest on my own. I draw inspiration from fashion forums and shows, magazines, catalogues etc...

From myself really - I started becoming interested in fashion and dressing well when I was about 16. Bought my first handbag around that time too. As I matured and my tastes developed, my family noticed and then my grandfather started telling me about his store in our country town where I'm originally from where he was the outfitter for all the men in the district. He taught me about tailoring, quality fabrics and finishes to garments and also showed me old pictures of my grandmother who dressed absolutely beautifully. So it's a combination of myself, magazines (which I have purchased religiously since I was 16), movies, art/photography (old stuff, not papps or celebs) and family background.

My grandmother who passed away almost three years ago. She loved to shop and dress well - she didnt have a lot of money but was always dressed so nice. She loved clothes and shoes and bags. She left me her prized possession - a vintage 80's Gucci handbag and wallet - I think the fact that she carried that bag all during my high school years was what hooked me on bags. Right before she passed, she could barely talk or communicate, and I went to see her with a new LV. When I walked in, her eyes immediately opened wide and she stared at my bag. I knew she was admiring it even though she couldnt say so - she loved fashion.

My grandmother for sure. Up until she passed away she always did her makeup before she went out, had her hair done every week, and REFUSED to wear "comfort" shoes. My mom and auntie always had stories about the beautiful dresses and outfit she used to have when she was younger.

My parents...not so much. They've started dressing a bit better because of me :P It took a long time to wean my father off socks and sandals....

Bravo. I went to the Whole Foods today and every woman looked like she just rolled out of bed and threw on the first things they found on the floor.

Disgraceful.

My Father. Although he passed away when I was 14, his meticulous style is still with me.
He would not leave the house with one wrinkle, everything had to be ironed. And everything had to match properly; not necessarily "matchy, matchy" but coordinated.

My father, too. He wore Brooks Brothers before Ralph Lauren ripped them off. People used to laugh at his button-down collar shirts until they became fashionable.

I remember one night driving up Madison Ave. with him and he stopped the car by Brooks' flagship store, pulled over and parked, and he took me to just look into their windows.

My Mom.....I remember when I was little, we lived in a small town with a proper downtown. She would take me to the "department" store there, and let me explore. I put my first item on lay-away when I was 5. My Mom taught me how to wait for the best bargains, how to thrift, and also if you are patient....you will always find what you want....at a discount!
