I'm pretty much the same as everyone who posted; I dress nice because it makes me feel good; plus I like to dress up!

I also think it is just a part of society to dress up/look good. I remember in high school a lot of girls would dress up daily just to have that well-polished good look.

I also dress up for the benefit of myself, I prefer not to walk about during the day feeling like a slob, it just bothers me personally, but it doesn't matter to me if other people are walking around in pajamas or what not to class or to the grocery store

If i spend a portion of my money on clothes and such, it's because they're useful enough for me as versatile daily attire, so I should have no problem wearing it on normal days

I don't really dress up much or often but I refuse to wear things like sweatpants and flip flops out. I am a full time college student and I am disgusted by the way MANY students go to class. Mind you, this school does not have dorms so it's not like they just ran over from the dorms to the classroom at the last minute and it's not a one time thing. These people look like they just rolled out of bed every single day.

I am not by any means fashionable but there are things even I refuse to wear as I'd like to have some semblance of decency. I don't care who you are, what you do, etc, yoga pants and sweatpants are not appropriate attire for going in public and unless you are going to the beach or the pool, neither are flip flops.

Exactly! I actually have a visceral reaction when people ask me if I would wear/do wear/own a pair of yoga pants (and they're not talking about wearing them to the gym). My DBF said he saw girls "dress them up" wearing a nice top, flats, and a belt...but I said NO. They cannot be dressed up. They are not proper pants.

(I should mention I feel the same about leggings-as-pants. I think it's sloppy. Under dresses/skirts/tunics....they're great).

I feel the same way...the only times I've ever worn sweatpants to class was with uggs for some 8am classes in the cold/snow when I have time to change for my next class...and if I don't mind going back to sleep in lecture!

I always want to ask the people who got out of bed and just went to class that way how they manage to stay awake. If I wore the sweats I slept in I'd find myself going back to sleep during class.

Not that I don't wear juicy sweats out when I'm not in class....

I wear leggins but only under tunics or dresses. NEVER as pants.

Ditto the NO to wearing leggings as pants. Even if you have an amazing ass...it's still hard to pull off.

But anyways... I dress both for myself and for my bf lol...i'm honest :)

OP I know exactly how you feel! I am shocked that your professor called you out though. I attend college also and because I don't wear sweatpants, sweatshirts, and messy buns everyday- I "dress up way too much". My friends are always ragging on me saying that I am making them look bad and why do I feel the need to dress up? (I don't even wear heels or anything too fancy- and if they feel bad, maybe they shouldnt wear pajamas everyday!)

I do it really for myself because I am able to and I take pride in the way I look. I also like to do it for the public, I guess in a sense to show people how cute I can look! :) It makes me feel good...and I think it is just super fun!
