definitely the black one. the ivory is nice, but the black actually looks more interesting with the contrasting buttons.

You should also check out H&M. Their size 2 coats are cut very narrow, especially in the shoulders. I usually have a hard time finding coats that are small enough and I was surprised when the size 2 was a little snug.

I like both a lot. I have an ivory pea coat from j. crew that I absolutely love. I think the ivory really stands out and is very classy. However, I love how the black coat fits you. Tough choice! I guess I'll vote for the black. It was my first reaction. Good luck choosing!

I also have an ivory coat similar to that one, and while I absolutely adore it, it really just isn't that practical for NW winters with lots of rain. Dark color winter coats are just easier to deal with. I like both coats though, too bad you can't keep both!

aw, this is a tough decision. i remember talking with panda_usc about how juicy coats fit well for petites and both of these coats look nice on you. it's a bit hard to tell with the second one because there's no belt and getting coats taken in around the waist is also a pita for me at least b/c you never quite know what it will look like until it's finished (and then you can't return it).

i agree white is a hard color to keep clean, but in the bay area i don't think it's going to be snowy, slushy, or very muddy so you can just wear it on clear days. i think the wool will be warmer and white is so pretty in winter. it's also so rare to see girls in white wool coats but they are very classic and a wonderful change when most people have the typical black winter coat that is seen everywhere.

that said, i prefer the styling of the black trench coat and i understand what you mean about how hard it is to find narrow shouldered ones! i haven't found my perfect trench yet either.. still looking. i'm not crazy about the front button details on the white coat.

sorry i am probably not helping with your decision...they are both cute and whichever one you stick with i hope you love and wear proudly!

I prefer the black trench coat. I really like the huge brass buttons on it. Also, Mackage makes great coats for petite girls with narrow shoulders and tiny waists.

Although usually I don't go for black, in this instance I would, it seems more 'elegant/classy' yet still funky...they're both gorgeous!
