I'm surprised this was not mentioned yet:

The "Red-neck" Tuxedo!! Jean jacket worn with jeans - a denim-on-denim celebration of DENIM!

I think my only real fashion crimes were when I was in like 7th-9th grade, I always wore shirts that were way too small for me and showed like 4 inches of midriff. Granted, I had great abs and no muffin top, but really, lol.
I did the same thing (but my stomach only showed when I raised my arms)! Incidentally, that's when the shirt checks stared being mandated at school.

LOL I DID THIS, TOO. Oh, middle school.

The "red-neck" tuxedo has really come back, though. Why?????

*shudder* I've seen most of what was mentioned earlier on a regular basis. It can be very scary! I won't mention them again.

My worst fashion crime was when I permed my hair. There IS a reason I was born with straight hair. VLL - at least you looked like a member of an 80s hair band - I looked like an oddly coloured sheep!

There are two things that annoy me that I haven't seen mentioned before:
Shoulder pads. I know some designers are bringing them back, but they really shouldn't. Leave them in the 80s and 90s where they belonged! I have never seen a woman - no matter how long her neck or slender her waist - look good with shoulder pads.

And when people wear the same coloured shirt and pants with no break - Especially jeans and chambray. When a person has a big chunky belt, a different coloured jacket - anything that adds contrast or shape, it works. But I shudder when I see people walking down the street, and they look like they are just human shaped denim with a face.

I beg to differ! I agree that OBVIOUS shoulder pads are not a good look but many styles NEED a shoulder pad for aesthetics, especially of the wearers shoulder slope too much. They should not make you look like you belong in the 80s though.

(That's the sewist in me talking :P )

I think the worst crime to dressing inappropriately for the occasion. Case in point: Mickey Mouse T-shirt and khakis at a wedding dinner in a 5-star hotel.

My biggest shudder usually goes to my lovely classmates who turn up to our lectures at uni with no shoes on! I think it's the height of laziness and shows disrespect for yourself and your lecturer.

My biggest problems was when I was younger, chose things that did not suit me! Sequined tight sheer tops do not work when you're busty Thankfully I've learnt my lesson though I still long to wear frilly sequined dresses... just won't do it though.

Are we talking about ones we personally have committed? Oh God. Skunk stripe highlights, high heel sneakers, anklets (particularly ones made of hemp - shudder!)... I could go on and on.

Others.... hmm. My most massive pet peeves are visible thongs/butt crack, and people who dress as if they have no idea what their body looks like. If you have a belly and hips, don't stuff it into low rise pants so that it may spill forth. If you have bad chest acne, do not wear low cut tops that showcase it.

my fashion crimes include: wearing juicy couture tees that have "juicy couture" written somewhere on them. birkenstocks with a denim miniskirt in 9th grade. unruly thick hair- i wish i had heard of moroccan oil back then!

fashion crimes i've spotted on others:
-a larger woman wearing leggings as pants. her leggings were skin tight and an olive color. and since they were also made of such thin material, i saw her big granny panties...not just the outline...but i saw the color of them...hot pink if you wanted to know.
-glittery homecoming gown on a regular monday morning at school. it was also accompanied by an updo with a fake flower in it and matching glittery stilettos
-filthy uggs
-light color miniskirt with a neon pink thong. the point of a thong is to NOT see your underwear. why step outside with an almost white cotten skirt and the hot pink thong totally outlined from the front AND the back?
-puffy down vests...they look like freakin sleeping bags

JuneHawk - you crack me up! LOL!

What bothers me:

1. Grandmas trying to look young who end up looking like ancient desperate housewives in juicy sweats and uggs.
2. Teenagers trying to look grown who end up looking like they work the streets.
3. Women trying to look sexy in a tight outfit who end up looking like a meal of sausages and rolls.
4. Women who are blessed in the chest and refuse to wear bras who end up looking like jello up there or like a porn star or both.

lol these are all so funny. i have to agree that the worst crime is wearing something inappropriate in the context of the event you are attending. i think it's quite disrespectful to the other party.
