A woman today in one of my lectures was wearing a puffy denim winter coat... didn't even know they made those!

There are a number of people around here who wear PJs outside to a nice restaurant and tracksuits to go to a musical or opera. Seriously, I'm thinking these people have to have at least one decent outfit to wear to these kinds of events instead of their pajamas or jogging pants.

I hate it when I see people wearing their pajamas in public, I mean, it isn't that hard to put on a pair of jeans and a shirt, is it?
I think my only real fashion crimes were when I was in like 7th-9th grade, I always wore shirts that were way too small for me and showed like 4 inches of midriff. Granted, I had great abs and no muffin top, but really, lol. |

There are some terrible fashion crimes here. The other day I saw a woman whose tummy was bouncing off her thighs wearing leggings as pants. And, while this is far less damaging to the eyes, "teacher sweaters" (no offense to educators) gain in popularity every fall - cardigans with leaves embroidered down the front; sweatshirts or sweaters with trees on them with dangling ornaments or real, jingling bells; etc.

My mishaps definitely consisted of being a total fashion victim, ie. wearing clothes completely inappropriate for my body type like midriff-baring tops, boxy cropped jackets and incredibly short skirts. I cringe now to think of how short I used to wear my skirts.
In terms of other people, I am currently in a small university town and I see a lot of young women who dress way too revealing, such as tube tops when everything is spilling out. And of course, my eternal pet peeve: leggings as pants. Finally, I've noticed that a lot of female students (including some of my friends) wear these awful backless slip-on sandal/shoes that are essentially woolly clogs crossed with birkenstocks. WHY?!?!?! |

This isn't incredibly heinous, but I hate it when people wear pants that aren't the right length for their shoes -- mainly when it's high heels paired with pants that don't at least skim the top of the shoes (assuming it's a bootleg pant, skinny leg pants can be shorter).

Crimes I've committed:
- polo shirts when I was a teenager - I got a perky generous bust early in adolescence and wearing a shirt originally designed to be worn by men was just so wrong in so many ways. - underwear that didn't match my outerwear. So if a strap slipped on a red dress, there would be a black or white bra strap. I always buy correct colour underwear to go with dresses now. Both of these obviously reflect my youth and inexperience. I think... Crimes I've seen and hate: - women wearing dresses that are too short, tight and/or revealing for a wedding and reception during the day. At a golf club (or similar venue). Happens all the time here. Seriously ladies, it is not a good look. Combined with terrible cheap accessories and a bright orange tan, it is a horrible look. Stop it. The last wedding I was at, when I was thanking the bride's family at the end her grandmother said to me "I feel like we should be thanking you for being the only person properly dressed for a wedding!" - butt crack. With or without underwear. Stop it. Please. - novelty knitwear. It IS a thing this time of year - embroidered santas, jingly bells, glittery christmas trees. Eeewwwwww.... - jeans to events like theatre, opera, evening gallery openings. Jeans have their place in a wardrobe. Lunch or coffee with friends - yes. Classes - yes. Shopping and traveling - absolutely. Evening out to enjoy and appreciate the work of artists? No. They made the effort to put their work out there for your enjoyment. Grow up and put a freakin' dress on. |

My worse crime was probably uggs with a short denim skirt...I was way younger then so I didn't know any better. I don't even know why I got into Uggs in the first place...unshapely, snow shoes in San Francisco?
This isn't too bad but I really dislike it...sheer, white, skintight, long shirts/tunics over skinny jeans...the waistband of the jeans/pants shows through the sheer, light colored shirt..both in color and in shape. It really is unflattering to the wearer...it looks their body is bulging out |

I commit a fashion crime nearly every day LOL. I was not, unfortunately, blessed with any fashion sense or style. If I ever win the lottery I am hiring a personal stylist.

I should add that there are a few fashion faux pas that I do hate and do not commit!
1. Tight or figure hugging clothes on people who cannot really pull it off or even come close. I don't know why the bigger the woman is the tighter her clothes are. Really, not a good look. I'm a big girl (as these things go) so I feel entitled to judge :P 2. Tights/pantyhose with sandals or open toe shoes. Why??? I do not care who says this is "in"...it is not. It's a horrible look and makes you look frumpy. I don't know who is perpetuating this trend but please....STOP IT! 3. PJ-looking clothes while out and about. I see this EVERY SINGLE DAY at school. I know it's a laid back college but unless you roll out of bed and drive to school, it does not take any longer to put on a pair jeans a shirt than it does to put on PJ pants and a wifebeater (and don't even get me started on wifebeaters!) |

A few more things I hate to see:
Fish net shirts on men or women (at school, I have seen both) I went to a wedding about 5 years ago. The bride and grooms family were extremely casual for the wedding. THey came late wearing booty shorts and flip flops. Then they left before the bride and groom left the reception. ALso, many people did not show up for the wedding, just the reception for food (the same people who then left). Anyway, shorts and flip flops are a big no-no to wedding or special events. I also hate seeing people wear jeans to the theatre. If you are seeing a theatrical show, please try to dress up a bit. |
