Default Updating an old dress

I saw this dress from the new See by Chloe collection:
http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/...01797&ev19=1:1

I have a very similar dress I bought 10 years ago that I have always held onto for some reason-black leather, same length. The only difference is that it is a wrap dress, so something must be be worn under it or it would be too low cut.
I am now thinking about pulling it out again this fall-what top should I wear under it and what shoes?

Black wrap dress? You could wear almost anything from a camisole to another wrap dress to a turtleneck. As far as shoes, you could also wear virtually anything! I think if you posted a picture of your dress you would get more/better responses. :)

It would help if your could post some pictures. But it sounds like if you were to wear it for fall/winter with a turtle neck and ribbed tights to vary the texture it could be really fashion forward. But that would be a hard look to pull off.

AnneMerrick,

What kind of suggestions are you looking for? I am sure we can help! There are lots of places in Dallas (per your member info) that a dress would work out this Fall. (I am up in Frisco.)

A white button down shirt, and pumps would "prep it up". A simple turtleneck perhaps? Or if this simply isn't working for you, have the dress turned into a wrap skirt. Then you will have a million more options...

I vote for a white ruffle blouse, open toe booties, and tights! Super ruffly blouses are very in for fall as are booties. I think that would bring it up to date and the ruffly blouse would soften the look of the leather (which can sometimes look biker chic, or too harsh).

Here are some ruffly blouse options:

Here are some booties (no open toe options here though as I'm sure closed toe is more practical):

http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/...=1220473422586

I think it would be a hot combo!

A lightly ruffled blouse would "pretty" it up, or a deep purple or turquoise turtleneck underneath would really pop! Maybe with some gray tights and booties?

How about an underpinning with a drapey/cowl neckline, for a more casual look? Or how other suggested with a button down shirt under it, but with a chunky wrap cardigan on top, a nice belt, tights, pumps or mary janes.

I would stay away from knee high leather boots, just a bit too much cow going on IMO.

I totally love the ruffled blouse, booties, and long strands of pearls/silver chains. You could totally do a Lagerfield/Chanel thing. Cute!

Anne,

I agree. All of these sound chic and would work well here in the Dallas area. The ruffled blouse sounds like a dressier version or for a more casual look (as far as a leather dress being casual), I like the tutleneck or mock neck idea. I definitely agree witht he tights and the booties as well. That seems to be a trend this season. What area of town are you in? This would go well at Martini Park, Loft 610, or the Loft at NYLO this fall. All more dressy and trendier places to go.

BTW, Happy 35th B-Day. You are just a few months apart from me! Did you ahve a great day??!! I hope so!
