For the winter, I like to keep several key stables in my closet:

1. pair of sleek black leather knee high boots with heels
2. black full length fitted coat

To freshen the look and give it some color, I accessorize the look with matching hats, gloves and scarves. Last year I was really into pale/pastels colours. This year I'm leaning more towards vibrant reds, blues and greens.

I'm also thinking of getting a cream/red winter coat as I see a few ladies with it. Maybe not full length but mid-length.

I have probably enough coats but I like to get new scarves, boots and hats. I just ordered a See by Chloe faux fur hat. I would like a knit cream tam type hat, and a matching scarf. It gets so cold here that cute gloves aren't really practical for me - I have to buy crazy ski gloves and then I lose them constantly.

So far this is what I have bought this fall.
Double knit leggings,
Cardigans the cacoon, and flyaway kinds
Riding boots
Military Jackets( Someone should stop me. I love these and I keep buying them!!)
Open toe booties
Flannel shirts (2)
knee high socks to wear w boots.

I live in SF so we don't get the deep freeze winters -- what I've bought for Fall will do just fine for winter.

I already have the basics and tend not to buy into many trends every season, so what I've bought just sort of enhances my existing wardrobe:

* 1 pair of knee-high waterproof black boots by La Canadienne (the "Passion" boots, LOVE 'em)
* 2 pairs of black ankle boots - one flat and one with a 2-inch heel
* My HG: Rick Owens black biker jacket

* Prairie Underground cloak hoodie in black...very warm!
* 1 DVF wrap dress (my first ever!)
* 2 pairs of leggings: 1 black Wolford Velvet pair, and 1 "denim" legging by Hue.

I already have several cozy cardies and 1-2 warm wool jackets/coats. I might go for a couple more sweaters -- basic ones from Esprit are cheap and of decent quality.

GOOD QUESTION! The item I am drooling over right now is a cashmere cardigan from Nordies. It's 100% cashmere, long, heather grey with pockets. It's quite plain, but I've been looking for one for awhile. I buy one cashmere piece every winter and this is it!

so far the only fall things i've bought is a new mike & chris leather jacket and a wool coat.

i'm still looking to get some new boots, scarves, cashmere sweaters, and maybe a pair of rain boots.

)
- buckle or studs ankle boots
- a black bag
- the circle scarf, the ones you put over your head. just like in Fendi's previous ads.
- a nice dress coat

- Neutral colored coat, in black or grey...probably grey (I already have a statement coat in bright red!). Possibly a trench coat.
- Maybe some new boots? I do want a pair of mid-heel boots, but I don't know if it'll be a winter purchase
- More sweaters

I have my eye on a bomber jacket that I really, really want, but it's more of a fall purchase than winter. Hopefully it'll stay in stock by the time my birthday rolls around (early-mid December). Or, if I'm lucky, it could be my Black Friday purchase.

edit: Oh, and a sweater dress! Banana Republic currently has the one I want.
