Talking spray paint/fabric paint on clothes DIY

I have a black sweatshirt and a pair of black jeans that I dont quite like anymore, i was thinking of either spray painting them or using fabric paint to make them better. what do u think, what colors and where will i be able to find the fabric paint?

I would think paint splatters might make them look interesting? Then you can choose colors, but it would also be very spontaneous. Personally, fabric paint sounds like a fashion disaster, but it depends on what you were thinking of. I would try a fabric or craft store for supplies. :)

I think spray painting them might end up looking a mess. Sometimes the deliberate "customisation" can look really bad unless you were accidentally sprayed. I tried painting on a tank top and it didn't turn out so well, the paint hardened and became a bit stiff. Craft stores can definitely recommend paints and techniques to use. Maybe you can take it somewhere to get treated. I've heard of people who've taken things in to get washed and dyed - giving their items a bit of texture/ colour/ fading. Not sure where though but I think a quick google could help you out. :)
