Default Should I keep this Gucci skirt $1,283? Help?

Hi All,

I recently purchased this sale Gucci skirt from the Spring '08 runway collection but I am not sure it is the most flattering on me. I have wide hips as it is (I recently gained weight- I am usually thinner) and I am not convinced this is the best choice. Also, is the pattern too 80s? Too trendy? Is it too dressy to be worn daytime? My boyfriend and SA loved it on me which pushed the purchase. Sometimes I don't know a good thing because I am playing it too safe with the way I dress and this is definitely more risky. What do you think? It originally sold for about $2,155 - I bought it for $1,283+tax last week. Now it would sell for $860+ tax because there was another markdown (but I didn't get it for that price). I could always try my luck at returning it and trying to find it again if it's worth $860 but not $1,283. I always have a hard time with sale purchases because they are obviously last season and I still don't know whether there is something I might like more around the corner. We are about to take this huge 8 week trip including Europe and NY...I would want to be able to wear it there...And no offense but I don't need to hear, "If you really love it you'll know" etc. because I rarely ever know. I need raw unedited opinions. Thoughts?

I personally like it! It is unique and not that trendy (you could easily pull it off in seasons to come). The original price was too high for this piece IMO, but the price you paid sounds rather reasonable (it is Gucci after all) .

It's a great skirt and it's very flattering on you!

I agree with the other posters about the price. Is there anyway you can take it back and buy it for $860? Some stores will do price adjustments without you having to return it. Other stores will make you officially return the item and re-purchase it.

It's cute but I wouldn't ever spend that one one skirt. Where are you even planning on wearing it?

It's not too trendy or too 80's or too night time or anything. It's gorgeous and looks great on you. If you like it and your BF likes it and you can afford it. Keep it.

IMO you'll be able to get lots of use out of it for years to come.

I think the skirt is amazing something you don't see often, if you can afford it, I say keep it

Honestly? I don't think that the skirt is flattering. You look uncomfortable in the photos, as though the skirt is making you self-conscious. Perhaps this is because the cut of the skirt and the pattern draw a lot of attention to an area of your body that you are already sensitive about?

I would return it.

Looks good on you but...

I'd pay that $$$$ if it is leather and not fabric & if it is not white (for that oops here goes the $$$$ from a stain).

But, thats just me.

I agree. Leather and that price would be okay. Fabric not so much unless it was a coat.. :/

I think it is a little too expensive. The print is not that unusual and it is hard to tell it is gucci or an high level brand.
However if you like it you can keep it.

I think it is awesome! However, I think you need to look at a few things:

1. How often will you wear it (i.e. get your money's worth)?
2. Can you truly afford it?
3. Could you find something similar, that was less expensive, and still have money left for something else, too? That is what I usually think about!
