I love this skirt from JCREW-

They had it in black yesterday but I guess it sold out. Anyone have another find they can suggest. Also, would really like to spend less. I'm going to wear this with black tights and knee high boots.

you posted the midnight mini from jcrew, which didn't come in black (but i do love the skirt). Did you mean to post the bistro skirt:

Looks like black is in stock for sizes 00, 0, 2, 4. Worth giving them a call about it and seeing if they can find it and ship it to you free of cost if they find it in your size

There is also the shirred wool skirt which is sold out in black but they could try to locate one. I know that I have seen them in the stores when I've stopped by in the past couple of weeks.

i like it in blue too.. but there are tons of these kind of shorter wool or thick material mini skirts out right now.. check BR or theory.. any department stores or work clothing stores...
J crew never run out of stuff. check with your local stores.

For a lower price point but similar style, maybe take a look at Ann Taylor/Ann Taylor Loft? They used to be more business-y styles, but lately they've gotten some really cute stuff, and prices tend to be lower than J Crew/Theory.
