Default Shopping in Maine

Hi Ladies of TPF in or around the Maine area!!

I will be in Maine next month for a girl's weekend and I wanted to know if there were any particular areas, streets, boutiques, etc. where we could shop for clothing, shoes, & accessories. We will be in the Rockland, Rockport, & Camden areas. If there is any other types of stores/places we should visit I'm all ears!!

This will be my second time in Maine and this time I want to be better prepared or at least have a game plan. TIA for your help!!

I am not from Maine, but the times that I have been, I have always stopped at the outlet centers in Kittery and Freeport. I really lucked out big time at Burberry and Coach when I was in Freeport last year!

If you have the time to get down there, Freeport is definitely the place to go. I'm a plus-sized girl who lives in Lane Bryant so I can't vouch for the clothing available there, but for shoes and accessories you should be able to get some bargains. And remember, a trip to Maine isn't complete without stopping in L.L. Bean!!

Rockport, Rockland and Camden may have some cute boutiques, and if you make it up the coast, Bar Harbor too.

Have fun here - I love my state!

I also have to say Freeport is the place to shop when in Maine (my home state). It may be a bit of a trek from the area you'll be visiting, but honestly, it's a bit of a trek to get to most places in Maine! Here's a site that shows the stores in the Freeport outlet area: http://www.freeportusa.com/FreeportShopList.html

Also, Portland is a bit further away, but it truly is a beautiful little city and has lots of things to do in the summer. Worth a visit if you can make the trip; hope you enjoy your time in Maine!

Thanks for everyone's response!! I'm going to talk to my girls about hitting Freeport!! If not we'll settle for all the lovely antique & art shops available our way. We all fell in love with Maine last year. The towns are adorable and scenery breath taking. Oh, yes and the food! Such a perfect place to get away from it all, esp from hot, humid, insane NYC.

Thanks again for all your help!

I just stopped by Freeport last weekend and it was great. That town is super cute, with all the outlets on Main street - there's so much to browse! The Burberry outlet had $19 wool scarves, such a steal! If you have time, you can stop by the LLBean and do some of their outdoor discovery adventures. We went kayaking there first the first time and it was so fun and only cost $15. They also have shooting, archery, and fly fishing.

Yay! Come to hot, humid, insane Maine instead!!

(I think there are some normal people up here. Somewhere!)

If you make it into Portland, you should check out the Angela Adams boutique on Congress St. I don't think all the tourists make it there, because it's just a little outside of the Old Port.

Hahah thanks again everyone! When I went up to Maine last year, the weather was warm (low humidity!!) and very cool at night which I love. Reminded me of my college days up in Buffalo, NY. I look forward to the nice weather again - I hope I didn't just "luck" out!

I Angela Adams! Thanks for the heads up - though now going to Portland may be a danger to my credit cards!

It's awfully hot and sticky right now, but then there is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect LOL

You should hit Portland if you can - I know it's a little OT, but I discovered a fabulous textile company today who have a store on Commercial St that I didn't even know about. They're called Company C, and if you like Angela Adams you'll probably like some of their stuff too.
