Default RANT!! Sorry, but I need to get this out...

Is anyone else fed up with how each year it seems stores are flying past seasons before they even happen!!!! I called NM last week to ask if they had any long shorts/crops in, and the SA said NO....and she didn't think they were getting any more in the store...then in a super snotty tone she told me they were out with the resort collect in March!! Ok...I'm sorry, but in March I could not even get out of my drive way due to the LOAD of Illinois SNOW. The last thing on my mind was shorts, skirts, or cropped pants. Just this past winter I wanted to get a cute wool skirt to wear with my coach boots for Christmas, and was told they had them out around July...JULY...are you KIDDING!! I wanted to yell its cold NOW not in July!!!! If its hot..then I want to be able to find/buy summer stuff when I need it...not way back in Jan. when I'm still half frozen!! So I guess I better buy my winter coat now before its too late

Yea, it's frustrating. I used to tell myself I could only buy in season (or almost in season) items but now I have decided that if I see something I need to buy it even if it's months away from being wearable. I find that if I wait until the appropriate season they don't have it anymore.

i'm glad i'm not the only one who feels annoyed by this! it's sooo irritating to see coats, etc. before summer even officially starts.

You guys would never have this problem if only you moved to San Francisco. Summer here is only like a week long so the problem of summer clothes rarely arises. Since it's cold fall weather all year long my whole wardrobe is an endless number of sweaters, coats, jackets and things that keep you warm.

Last week it was hot( in the upper 70's) for 2 days and I was totally lost what to wear.

There is a really good chance I might be moving to LA next year, and I am a bit freaked about haivng to change my wardrobe completely.

I feel like different stores should have different policy on that. I live in PA and all the stores start selling spring collection while it is still cold and raining outside.

I buy my wintercoats in July and my Spring and Summer clothes starting January. I find that's when there is the best selection and the boutiques always have the pieces that I want in my size. The only thing is that I tend to pay full price on every piece. Though I never stop shopping for clothes throughout the year.

I feel your pain, it's always frustrating especially in NY it seems as if winter lasted forever (40-50 degrees in May!) .. although on the flip side during the summer it seems all the summer clothes are on sale and vice versa (that's i f sizes are still available).

Ugh, I've noticed this for the last couple of years. This is why I wait to buy my winter coat. When Macys was phasing them out, it was Feb and still cold!! I wait to buy EVERYTHING "out" of season so that it's at least 50% off!

It is frustrating enough that they do this with women's clothing. I wanted to buy some boots during a huge snow storm last year in February, and all I could find was swimwear in the stores!

But it is beyond ridiculous that they do it with children's clothing, too. Kids inevitably lose a glove or mitten sometime, and they will need a new pair. Or they get a tear in their snowpants or coat and it needs to be replaced. While I have no problem buying each child 3 pairs of gloves or mittens each season, that simply isn't feasible for coats or snowpants, yet if they damage something in December or January when we still have a couple months of snow left, there is nothing to be found in stores!

I hear you... Swimsuits are always out in January/February, and one year in July, I needed to get a swimsuit for a water park and I couldn't really find anything I liked because the reaming stock was already put on clearance >:o

Meanwhile, in December the cute winter coats have sold out already and the rest are on sale... Coats get sold starting in July!!

ITA.. then you end up paying full price for everything, cause you don't want to risk the chance of them running out of your size...I think thats their plan all along
