Default NORMA KAMALI for WALMART?
WHAT?
I was getting some groceries last night and passed thru the ladies section and saw Norma Kamali section. Its mostly activewear but had a few other nice things-I got a leopard shirred dress, black dress slacks, a boyfriend jacket, black leggings and black jogging pants. Everything was under 20.00 each(the boyfriend jacket was 20.00)
I don't know about the quality but since designers are seeming to do lower budgeted items for major stores, this line looks pretty good.
Anyone else have any thoughts on her things?
I use to get her things years ago for much more in major department stores,
The only thing is she runs very small-so if you have a vanity thing-beware.....
as for me if it looks good, noone knows the size but me

Default Incredible line of clothing for the price
I have to say that I love Norma Kamali's designs. And of all the interviews I have seen with her, she seems like a fabulous person as well as a designer. It's more than refreshing to see someone in the fashion industry who is really down to earth. If you read her statements regarding her decision to collaborate with Walmart, she seems to have made that decision based on reaching the most amount of people and enriching their lives through her talents. She even went to visit a Walmart unannounced to see how her designs appeared in the store. And she supposedly carries the Walmart line in her boutiques in NYC (since there are no Walmarts there). I have read a few threads where people object to the designer budget lines at stores like Walmart or Target, saying it cheapens the brand and may result in a lower quality for the designer's high-end line. But to me this is not a sound argument. If you have been buying luxury brands for twenty years or more, you know the quality (generally) has declined on many brands. But I think that is the result of saturation of the "luxury" market, and cost-lowering manufacturing methods. I can't see why anyone would object to any designer producing something very affordable for everyone to enjoy--unless the real reason they are buying "luxury" goods is so they feel superior to everyone else. I much rather a designer come out with a really affordable line, than see their designs counterfeited in sweatshops somewhere.

Now that I got that off my chest (sorry for the rant), I have to say I was excited when I read (in Harper's Bazaar) that Norma Kamali was doing a line at Walmart. They only featured a T-shirt with a dove that I wanted. Well, I never got that since it was sold-out online. Yesterday I went to check to see if it was back in stock, but it wasn't. I thought the athletic/loungewear looked cute so I ordered 11 items (I am a terrible impulse shopper). Today I showed the items to my mother online (she is a high-end brand shopper almost exclusively) and she liked them so much, she suggested we go immediately to Walmart.

Well, it was my firt time in Walmart (I normally go to Target) and we walked away with 7 more items from Norma Kamali and will be placing another order online. What is more shocking is that my mother bought three pieces for herself. The lady in the dressing room must have thought we were insane because we couldn't stop commenting on how great the quality was, and the price had to be a joke. We kept saying things like, "how can she make this for that price?" I had gone looking for the loungewear but we ended up buying several pieces of ther jersey knits. The look better quality than similar things I have bought for travel in Neiman Marcus. Believe me, my mother would never have bought them if the looked even slightly lower quality. So, I will be placing at least one more order online (and I haven't even gotten the first one yet). This line is absolutely amazing for a budget line.

When I did a search on tpf for the Walmart line I didn't see many posts about it, but there was one woman in the Hermes forum that bought the (sold-out before I could see it) dress that can be worn several ways. It was difficult to see the dress in her pictures because the dress is black and the pictures were a little dark. But after seeing a picture of it on the Kamali website, and seeing the quality of the other dresses in the store, I can see what this tpf member was so excited about. Hey, if you own several Hermes bags and scarves and you love this line, it must be a good one. (IMO)

Yes, I looked on ebay for the dove T-shirt that prompted me to even look into this line. Unfortunately, there wasn't even one on ebay. And the things pictured in the Walmart line on the Kamali site weren't available online or in stores. I can only imagine that long-time Kamali buyers purchased one of everything, even if they will never wear it (LOL). I hope I get to see all the pieces in her next season before they're all sold-out.

I have a dress from the faux snake print dress from the line. I bought it a few months back and it's really cute.

I bought a black oversized, off the shoulder sweatshirt and a hoodie dress (in black as well). I use them to go over my workout clothes, but the quality seems decent, especially considering the price. I have a large oversized cocoon cardi/jacket from Norma Kamali (not Walmart's collection) and it is a little thicker and sturdier. But considering that I paid a LOT more for it, I would expect it to be better quality. Overall, I would say I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw at Walmart.

Just wondering if you bought the Everlast Norma Kamali line that was sold at NM? If you bought the batwing cardigan, I loved that too. But if I remember correctly it was around $200-$300?? And it was made of sweatshirt material. The one for the line at Walmart is made of French Terry (which I prefer). In fact, all of the Walmart activewear is made of French Terry. And the batwing is only $18. I agree that the quality for the price difference is unreal. I didn't look as closely at the seams of the Everlast line, but there certainly isn't a quality difference as great as the $18-$200++ price difference.

well i have shopped her line @ walmart and it's okay imo.. for the price it's pretty decent... but some of it is made from very cheap materials (i stress only some pieces) hence i don't own any becuz i'm not willing to pay markups for the good pieces on ebay and not willing to compromise for the cheapy pieces (material is not soft, etc)

her walmart line is so popularized on ebay, read here:
http://www.nitrolicious.com/blog/200...ay-collection/

that she is also doing a Norma Kamali for Ebay line

It was now 2 years old but still it was new as i had not wore it more then 2 or 3 times. Hey! but there is something new that i had purchased a new prom dress online first time and it was too good. Its color was also very nice in light shade.
