Default Need Professional Attire Advice HELP!!

I work in a conservative financial services industry and can almost always be found wearing suits/blouses and high waisted pencil skirts. Though my field is conservative, I love stylish professional clothing. About a year ago, I bought the black halo Jackie O dress and I have worn it once...to dinner. I really want to wear it to the office with pearls but DH thinks it is too dressy. Now that it is warming up, I think it would look great.

Need advice...is this office appropriate?

For a conservative office I think it has to be dressed down with a jacket that you have to keep on.

Beautiful dress!

I work at a conservative financial company as well. While I don't think it's too dressy for a conservative financial company, I would not wear it at work without something over my shoulders. We can't wear tank tops, camis, or anything that does at least start to cover the arms.

However, I asked DH. At his former employer (conservative financial company), girls wore dresses similar all time.

ok i think its a lil 2 dressy for that unless like you put a nice cardigan on top or somethin 2 cover it and use simple accesories, try it out like that i dont see it like dat dressy on the doll but on the magazine does so its confusin so im guessin it all depends!.

Yup, I agree with the cardigan over the dress - it would be just fine. You can wear your personal and keep the shoe choice simple as well.

Love the dress, by the way

I have a black halo dress almost like that (with ruffle cami top, spaghetti straps, and red belt) and I have to put a cropped cardigan over it for the office.
Love that dress!

I also work in concervative professional firm and have previously worked in conservative financial services firms and you'd have to wear this dress with a jacket at all times. It is a bit too revealing on top. Where I work cardigan would not cut it unless there are no client meetings.

Also, each office in a firm has its own dress culture. You are the best judge whether this dress would work in yours or not. Also it depends on how tight this dress fits you. Love the dress!

That dress would be fine as long as you wear a light jacket or cardigan over it.

i'd wear that to work, and i work in finance in nyc. pearls sound great with it too. it all depends on what's the general population wearing. if you dont see anyone in your building wearing anything remotely similar, than it may not be a good idea, but if you do once in a while see a very chic or trendy outfit on another woman, than why not? i think it's better to dress well and stand out than always be safe. dont get me wrong, suits are great, but a well tailored dress is a knockout.

This is the thing...the bare arms isn't a big deal at my office (as long as there are no tank tops, halter tops, tube tops or spaghetti straps) but I do have to admit that I dress better than 99.9% of the people in my office. I absolutely do not mean that in a bad or judgemental way...I just am more interested in fashion & clothes than anyone else. I rarely look like other people in my office so that is why it is so hard to judge. Most women in my office wear clothes from Kohls/Walmart or Sears.
