Default Nanette Lepore - How do her dresses fit?

I've been lusting over so many Nanette Lepore dresses lately that I think it's finally time to get one (especially since there are so many weddings to attend this summer!)

I have to buy the dress online so I'm hoping I'll get the size right the first time around. How do the dresses fit? Are they usually cut larger or smaller? I usually wear a size 2.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

I don't know about the dresses, but the Nanette Lepore skirt I have is a tiny bit bigger than normal. Not much, just a little bit.

I agree. They are ever so slightly larger. I still go with my "regular" size in NL because a size smaller is still a bit too small.

I am a size 2 in Rebecca Taylor, Theory, and DVF. My NL skirt is my "fat skirt" (i.e., if I forsee eating a large meal or when I am a bit bloated) and my NL dresses are a bit loose around the hips and chest area. My NL tops fit fairly true to size. You can try revolveclothing for size descriptions. They are fairly good at that. Also, you can order your dress in two sizes and return the one that doesn't fit, free of charge. I hope that helps!

I have a ton of NL stuff (I absolutely love her and go crazy during the sales!), and I would say she runs a tiny bit bigger than most comparable designers. I usually wear a size 4 in most designers (DVF, etc.), and I go with a 2 for pretty much everything NL (though I do have a few pieces in a size 4). With tops, it may make a difference if someone has a large chest (which I do not haha), but I agree with the above poster... you can always order two sizes (a 0 and a 2 in your case, say), and compare them at home.

Thanks for your help ladies, I was eyeing this dress on eBay, but it was a size 4, so I guess I'll have to pass on that.

I'm surprised NL runs large though because I'm thinking, if I wear a size 0, what would those skinny minnies wear? Does she have size 00?

I find that her dresses vary in sizing depending on the style. I'm fairly small, chest-wise, but I've got a boy's figure in that my "waist" is a bit wider. I tend to wear size 0 in a lot of the designers mentioned, but the last two NL dresses that I ordered, both have a more "fitted" waist look, the size 2 fit in the waist perfectly (whereas the size 0 was a little snug), but the chest was too big to the point where it would have cost $80 to alter the dress. I think if the dress is not "fitted" in the waist, then you are fine ordering true to size -- especially if it is empire waist or more of a shift.

Good luck!

I can't see the dress, but I think you would be better off with a smaller size. Haha, I always think the same thing... NL doesn't go smaller than a 0, and I'm not small by any means haha. I don't have a large chest, but I have hips and a curvy butt, so when I see girls who are much smaller than me, it makes me wonder!
