Since J Crew has a sale, I want to order one of the peacoats.

The thing is, I'm kind of between sizes. My bust fits the size 2, but my waist is the size 4. I want to be able to layer underneath, but I still want it to look really fitted. Do they fit pretty TTS from the size chart, or are they a bit big?

Also, besides length, are the tall sizes any bigger width-wise than the regular sizes?

I am also buying a coat from JCrew. In their PUFFER version that I own I have a small. I am TTS 2; 25/26 in jeans + XS/S on top + 34B. I'm getting one of their longer pea coats in a PETITE size 2. When I tried the regular length one in store the 2 was long on the arms and too long length wise but I am only 5'2. It was also a little tight in the chest so I wouldn't be able to wear anything thick under it. I also tried on a 4 but it was too and awkward looking. HTH!

I looked at the siZe chart and I'm spot on for the size 2, but I'm not sure how snug it will fit-since it's winter I want to be able to wear a sweater under. I have to drive across the border to pick it up, so I just ordered the 2 and the 4 and see which fits best.

I tried on a couple of peacoats in store and I find that some of them run a little big

^I think they run a little big too. I tried on the Carlin coat in the store and the 4 fit me much better than the 6 which is my normal size. The arms on the 6 were way too long. I just bought two coats online from them- I was so excited to see them marked down! I got 4s in both and if they don't fit I'll exchange. I'm a little worried they'll be too snug around the chest, but we'll see. I hate that J. Crew doesn't carry so much of their merchandise in store, and shipping is so ridiculous, it's hard to test things out.

^Yeah I'm pretty sure I will be the 2, especially since I can get it Tall (I'm SO excited about that, because coats are NEVER long enough for me), but I don't want to have to exchange it because it means another trip across the border. Rather be safe than sorry :)

I can't believe the shipping! I lucked out with a free shipping promo, but otherwise it's so expensive :S

OK I'm just going to do an update.

The 2 is GIGANTIC. It is like a box on me, even though I'm spot on with the measurements for it. On the website the back looks really nice and fitted, on me it is totally square. Of course a size 2 is the smallest they carry in tall, so it's going back :( I think even the 0 would be big still. I'm really surprised because I'm thin, but not THAT thin-I'm never a size 0 or 2 :S

this same exact thing happened to me when i bought a jcrew peacoat. i need like a negative 2 petite lol.
