Hi guys! Like my title suggest, I need help for my inteview tomorrow! I have a dark grey suit and it is kind of tight! The pants might be slightly snug because I just ate but the jacket is tight because of my shirt. So I was wondring if it was okay to not wear a button down underneath the suit jacket? I've seen pictures of women in suits with a nice cami or regular shirt but I don't know it it is appropriate for an interview. I want to look professional but feel comfortable at the same time. HELP!
Thanks so much in advance!

A cami is def appropriate for an interview...prefer this over a button down shirt. Much more classy. Good Luck tomorrow!!!!

I would go with what makes you more comfortable. If you feel comfortable, you will be more relaxed during the interview and can concentrate on the questions instead of your clothes.
Good luck tommorow!!! |

Actually, I think a cami is the least appropriate thing one could wear to an interview.
On the other hand a sleeveless shell, short sleeved shirt or finely knitted still sweater would be fine. Just make sure your can keep your jacket on if you go with a cami or sleeveless option. By the way, I never once wore a buttondown shirt with a suit to an interview or on the job in all the years I worked with Arthur Andersen or PricewaterhouseCoopers. You can defitely look very appropriate with other options. |

And the cami I am planning to wear is more of a sleeveless shell. So I should be okay! I hope!

A cami/sleeveless shell will be totally fine as long as you keep your jacket on! If you want, you can accessorize with a nice scarf.
Trust me, as long as you look professional and not sleazy, you'll be fine. Good luck!! ![]() (BTW I am a corporate recruiting executive in a fairly conservative Fortune 500 company and have interviewed 100s if not 1000s of consulting candidates over the years. I honestly have to say that I don't remember what a candidate was wearing in an interview unless it was shockingly odd or unprofessional) |

i also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers :) and I wouldn't wear a cami under a suit for an interview, either. A good option for me were cashmere/wool blend sleeveless tops.

I only remember what two of probably 30 people I have interviewed in the last 5 years were wearing. The ones I remember were major disasters: One thirty-something guy showed up (he was working in the corporate office for a major restaurant chain as a senior accountant) in a dirty navy sports coat, short sleeve shirt, khaki pants and no tie. He had not been told to dress down. We sat down in my office and he immediately launched into a 3 minute speil on why he was a catch. When I was able to insert a word edgewise, I thanked him and showed him the door. I then had a long chat with the recruiter (national agency). A twenty two year old woman showed up in a fitted charcoal pantsuit with a charmuse cami with sequins for a late Friday afternoon interview. She was wearing high strappy silver shoes and far too much makeup. I asked her if she was doing anything that evening while walking back to my office, and she told me she was meeting friends for dinner and then going to Ybor (local hotspot for clubs). You don't say! I wasted 20 minutes talking with her and sent her on her way. A pair of pumps and different top would have definitely changed my first impression of her. |

I'm back! It went very well! YAY!
The recruiter said she wished she had called me and told me to not wear a suit since it was so hot! She was in a cute black dress, belted with Tory Burch sandels. The whole office is quite casual - they even wear jeans!

MsTina, I'm too late to offer clothing advice, but I'm super glad the interview went well!

Thanks lunatwinkle! I really hope this works out! Love that the office is causal and that the recruiter loves her job!
