Except she did say professional. You are correct in saying that it does depend on the job, but it is terrible to get a strike against you if the interviewer doesn't think you are dressed appropriately. This is why I would advocate being a little conservative.

I guy's T would also be inappropriate with a jacket for most interviews.

OP - I am glad it went well. Good luck!

A nice tank top is fine. But I'd keep your jacket on. You want to show off your professional side. But most of all, dress how you would dress if you worked there.

I'm back with another question! I have my second interview tomorrow and it is suppose to storm bad. I know you are not suppose to bring much to an interview besides resumes and such but I want to wear rainboots for my travel to the interview and switch to my good shoes there. I don't want to show up at my interview all soaked! I'm not sure if I'll be able to leave my rainboots with the reciptions or have a place put it so I might have to carry them with me. Would that be okay?

Thanks in advance for the help!

maybe you can bring a really large purse, and then wrap your shoes in a bag and then put them in your purse. or i would take a cab, so that you only have to walk a short distance into the building.

I'm walking to the subway station from my house which is about 5-10 minute walk, the subway ride is about 30-40 minutes and the walk from the subway station to the building is about 5-10 minutes.

loserxstar, I think a cab would be too expensive for me.

Maybe I can wear flipflops and roll my pants up! The flipflops would be much easier to hide!

I personally would not carry rainboots in.. either bring a large enough purse or choose other shoes...

I was planning on carrying this bag

and borrowing my sister's rainboots that come up half way on the leg.

AH! Why does it have to rain?

Yes rain sucks! I hate when I have to go to important events on rainy days.

Like others said, if you can stuff your rainboots in the bag then it should be fine. Alternatively, if you have time and depending on the building you are going to, you can wear what you originally planned to wear for the interview, and get there really early. So you have time to sit downstairs for a coffee, calm down from the rain and commute, and primp yourself again.

Storm? That's sucky for an interview! Bleh!

I agree that flip flops would be easier to hid in your bag. But then if I were you, I wouldn't want my pants to get wet at the bottom (unless you plan on wearing a skirt). If I could, I would either have to fold up the cuffs of my pants when I get off the subway, or wear like lounge wear for pants with my flip flops, something with light material that will easily squeeze into your bag and hide. But then that means you have to change your pants when you get to the building, assuming that there is a restroom in the lobby where you can dress. And dressing like that to greet the receptionist might not make a good impression.

Is there a friend you can take with you? Then he or she can wait in the lobby and hold onto your rainboots while you wear your heel and go to the interview. Hmm, but then it's never good to actually bring someone with you to the interview, even if they just wait in the lobby. Lol, I'm totally thinking to myself as typing this. I'm such a dork.

Okay! If I were you, I'd wear a skirt with flip flops. Also bring a small hand towel to dry your feet before you change into your heels (in case there isn't a restroom in the lobby/reception area and you can't get paper towels), and bring a plastic bag to wrap your flip flops before placing it in your bag.

Oh, I like your orange MBMJ wallet!

So I am back from my interview - I think it went well!
Anyways, this weather is a pain the a**! So I decided on just wearing my suit with rainboots - they fit perfectly into my bag and It was drizzling when I left my house. I thought of the flipflops but I didn't want to wrinkle my pants and sometimes in flipflops, stuff gets on the back of my leg. I'm sure everyone who saw me thinks I have no sense of style! I had on pink Paul Frank monkey rainboots! So I get to my stop and I;m prepared for the rain and nothing! It wasn't raining! I changed once I got into the building, went to the interview and left. And to my surprised it was sunny and nice out! I guess the rain passed faster than expected!

Thanks for everyone's opinions!
