I have been saving for 2 whole weeks for the Mackage Jerry and will be ready to purchase it this weekend.
I will have to get the XS because all XXS is sold out at Aritzia corporately. That was the plan.. UNTIL I was on facebook and was looking through an album of a friend's bbq. The girl in the picture looked like she was wearing the Mackage Jerry but I found it odd that the leather looked soo THICK and matte compared to other pictures I've seen of the Mackage Jerry. Being the curious cat that I am, I got my friend who knows the girl to ask her if she was wearing the Mackage Jerry and in what size since we both look about the same height, weight and frame. I was in COMPLETE SHOCK when I found out that the jacket she was wearing is a DANIER jacket. Everything is the same except for the floral lining on the inside and the Mackage little tag at the back. . . . COMPARE! Mackage Jerry ![]() right ![]() ![]() ![]() DANIER ![]() ![]() girl @ bbq pictures ![]() the back details!! ![]() the picture that made me wonder if it was really a Mackage jacket Now my question is.. should I still get the Mackage or get the Danier???????? If I get the Danier I will be able to get my size (XXS) and save $250...... the Mackage Jerry is $550 and the Danier was $399 and is now $199 |

I guess now the only factor is quality. How do you think the Danier is quality wise? I'm always shopping for a bargain, and at $199, that's a bargain. Also, even thought they look the same design wise, they could fit differently. Have you tried on both? The fit is super important too.

I can't even beleive that you made this remark. If you are a big fan of Mackage (like me!!!) you would know that Mackage isn't only about sexy look and great design but and especially about a fit. More and more companies are trying to copy their coats, some do better job than others but Mackage is Mackage. It's like comparing a real Hermes Birkin (my dream purse!!) to a copy.. i rather save another 10 yrs and buy a real Hermes. but again this is my opinion. Good luck and keep us posted concerning your choice

When I compare the leather on my Mackage and coats at Danier, there's no comparison. When I was looking for a leather jacket I went to Danier, but all the jackets looked so cheap. I think if you love Mackage that much, you'll be disappointed with the Danier one.
BUT, you should really go and try them on. Having the Mackage brand is useless if the Danier one fits you a lot better. Plus, I'm not sure if you're around the same age as the girls in the photo-but if you're younger and still growing, a cheaper jacket might be a lot more practical. |

I agree with others, go try them on. And if the Mackage is not your size, I wouldn't get it. Either get the cheaper jacket or hold out for your size to come back in stock. A jacket that doesn't fit is not worth $550.
I'm really confused by copycats lately . . . I've seen two scarves in two versions each with exactly the same print, under different labels and at different prices. Do designers sell knockoff rights? Or what is going on? |

Hey Cherry on Top!
As the proud owner of the Mackage Jerry jacket, I have to say that there is absolutely no comparison between the two - take my word for it!! The leather of the Mackage Jerry is of such high quality - it’s gorgeous and the best part is that it seems to get better (more supple, unique) every time I wear it! I feel happy every time I wear my Jerry and am always getting compliments on it. I love Mackage!!! The designs, details, quality and fit are amazing. Also, I feel reassured that I spent money on something that will last for many, many, many years to come. I have seen the Danier version and it looks and feels like pleather. It’s like comparing a Chanel purse to a Canal Street knock off. I agree with “paris fashion”…I would rather have the real thing!!! Happy Shopping :) |

Hey ladies, thanks for all the comments & opinions.
So I went to Fairview Mall today in Toronto and visited both Aritzia and Danier. I was at Danier first and tried the XXS. Even though the fit was right the leather was so stiff that the collar would not lay/go to the side and the zipper kept poking my face. Then I looked at myself in the mirror for 2 whole minutes and knew that I would not be happy wearing a knock-off. I knew that I would not smile at it everytime I open my closet and look for something to wear. The quality simply can not be compared to Mackage. Not to mention that the floral print lining inside was completely hideous. I then went to Aritzia. They had one XXS but it is flawed. The stitching at the bottom zipper is undone therefore it is on sale for $525. I knew I did not want a flawed jacket because I wanted a completely new one. It is an investment to me buying this jacket. It is going to be the leather jacket that I am going to wear to my first concert and I would like to still be able to wear the jacket when I am in my late 30's (I'm 19 years old). I tried the flawed Mackage jacket on anyways and I decided instantly that........ I will NOT cheap out and buy the Danier!!!! I will wait for the Mackage Jerry in XXS!!!! RAWR!!! hahahhaha. Mackage leather is just so amazing. So buttery and soft. It made me feel so sexy and chic. ![]() But I will have to just wait. I wanted to get this jacket for fall but I guess I'll have to get it during the spring. (I'll be wearing my Mackage Isa in Black during the winter heheh) Or maybe it'll be there in a month or two and I can get it as a Christmas gift for myself <3 <3 I'll be sure to make a thread or bump this one with pictures when I do. Thanks again (: |

danier can copy the style, but the quality and fit will not compare to mackage. the price is marked so high for a reason! i agree with your choice, just wait and you will be so much happier!

In Danier's defence, their jackets aren't cheaply made and last well. They have some really buttery soft lamb leathers they use, I own one and it's great.
I also have the Mackage Jerry, and am NEVER impressed when companies will rip off other brand's designs. I love my Jerry and wouldn't buy a knockoff. But I don't judge those who would, to each her own :) |
