Hot Texas Heat...white pants after labor day?

I don't think that rule applies too often anymore.
It's hot here in California so I've been wearing white shorts a lot.

Also, remember, there's even a color called winter white.

I wear whatever I like, all those fashion rules don't mean much to me. I mean technically its still summer until Sept 22nd so why not. I wear white, whenever I feel like it, I say go for it!!!

I try not to wear it on rainy days and when it's that time of the month. Other than that, I will wear it whenever...

Funny, because those rules don't really apply in California, partly because we are season-less. However, I have lived elsewhere and those rules DEFINATELY apply. I remember people commenting on others "what is she wearing?? Labor Day was last weekend, hon..."

LOL I would totally laugh if I heard someone say that here. It's usually warm in my area through October. Until then, I'm wearing white to stay cool.

To the original poster, anyone who would think it was inappropriate to wear you white pants after labour day, would probably be shocked that you were wearing pants in public at all. or that you left the house without your girdle, hose, and gloves. All rules from the same era.

Or those who truly still hang onto those outdated fashion rules, would know it applies to white shoes only, particularly pumps.

I will wear white pants, but only winter white (cream-ish colored) ones. I don't think stark summer white is ok after labor day, at least not down in the south

Down South, yes, it is a Fashion Faux Pas.....traditional, and Southern born women do adhere to this rule.

(Normally applies in Deep South, South East, and Texas also).

I live in Texas too. I wear white whenever I feel like it. In the winter, just thicker material. I got many compliments wearing white in winter before. Just how you put the outfit together.

I just argued with my roommmate about this. I think that rule is ANCIENT just like the whole matching your shoes to your bag & belt rule, but she said the white rule is totally different & can not be overruled by any weather. She "Think what you want, but when you wear your white shoes, I bet everyone else is thinking the same the same as me... WHAT IS SHE WEARING?"
