I am ready to pull the trigger on a Roland Mouret dress sold online but never tried dress from this brand before. I am a consistent size 0 or XS in the US sizes. Will a 6 work for me? Or have to go for a 8?

Please help! Thanks a lot!

Hmm... I own 3 Roland Mouret dresses and I'd say that RM's dresses generally run quite small.
I'm usually a 00-0 in US sizing (32 boobs, 25 waist, and 33 hips) and I take in between UK 6-8, which is RM's US 2-4.
UK 6 is perfect very body hugging for me and is perfect as long as I don't eat in the dress.... lol
UK 8 gives me more freedom to move, but is less "sexy" imo

So... when you say size 6 or 8, are you talking about US or UK sizing? What are your measurements?
If UK... either 6 or 8 should be fine if you measure similar to my frame.
If US, way too big...

I agree with CEC - Roland Mouret runs quite small in my experience - long and narrow.
One thing you could do is check typical RM waist/hip/bust measurements with NET-A-PORTER's RM range against your own measurements. They list measurements for each item in cms & inches under "item measurements". It may help you choose between the UK6 and 8.

Thanks so much CEC! I meant UK size. For other UK brands like Smythe and Muubaa and I'm a UK size 6. Since new to Roland Mouret and heard their size runs small so I am not so sure between 6 and 8. My frame is quite silimar to yours - I'm most of the time a US 00 or XXS/XS. I'm also petite, about 5.2. I really like their Galaxy dress. Will it be too long for me? Do I need to get it altered?

Which dresses do you have from them if you don't mind me asking? What do you like about Roland Mouret? Do you think the Galaxy dress is worth paying the retail price? Sorry for so many question. :)

That's a great idea! At least it'll give me some reference. Thanks a lot Straight-Laced!

I own Helena, Ezra, and Herbert (the latter I have yet to take pix... hehe you just spoiled my next reveal item ). See pix below.

RM's dresses generally run long, but there are some that don't need to be shortened at the hem (eg. my Helena dress fits right above the knee, but the other two hit just below the knee which I don't mind either, helps to hide my boggy knees lol). I'm also 5'2 for reference, so I think the length should be fine.

If you do go for the bigger size (like I did for the Ezra), there may also be minor adjustments that you need to make. My Ezra dress gives me a "crotch" problem... so I'm actually contemplating on fixing that area, but after researching a lot of pix online for how models and other people wear RM's dresses, they all tend to bunch up around the hips.... So I'm thinking of just leaving it now.

As for why I like RM, please refer to my blog (link in siggie) lol I just wrote a bunch of stuff on my main page. I'm personally not too big a fan of the puff sleeves of the Galaxy dress. I like the Titanium more for the neckline and mermaid skirt... BUT if you absolutely love the Galaxy, don't mind me blabbering lol. Any of his dresses are worth it and great investment pieces that will never run out of style.

You rock RM dresses! Just like you rock those rocker biker jackets from RO! I do love your style CEC! I took a visit to your blog and found out that I can relate a lot to myself in terms of fashion and personal style. I also have a love hate relationship with Herve Leger but I made up my mind with HL and decided to move on to RM.

Love the one you just got - seen that on a lot of celebrities. Would love to see your reveal!

Thanks a lot CEC.

thanks! I love Rick Owens, but the style is very different compared to Roland Mouret... Mehh... I'm a mixed bag of everything

Yeah, HL... is nice too... but I feel like it's "un peu passé pour moi"... The younger girls can probably pull off the look, but I've always felt a bit older than my age... so RM speaks perfectly to my style I dunno, why, it seems like RM is not that popular here on tPF???

Have you gotten your Galaxy dress yet?

I also had time today to take pix of my new Herbert dress. I threw on a patent leather belt instead of the flimsy grosgrain ribbon that comes with it.

This one is the longest of the three that I own, but I'm thinking of keeping it like this cuz I see Victoria Beckham always wearing these longer dresses that hit at the calves. She's taller than me though, so still not sure if I can pull off the long length look...
(The boots are no no.... the dress is still pretty)

You look stunning in this dress CEC! I think the length looks fine on you. The galaxy dress is similar in terms of length I think. I tried to order from RM's website and sent a request for measurements but got email reply from Farfetch saying they don't have any in stock right now. Can't find it anywhere else :(. Maybe that's why it is not popular here because of accessibility?

Yep RO are totally different from RM but I do love both!

Hmm... which color are you looking for again? Black?

I've never seen the galaxy dress go on sale, so if you're going to pay full price for it, then you can probably contact RM's flagship store (8 carlos, london) and inquire about your size. I'm sure they'd be able to make it for you!
Also, if you order from them, you'd get all the pretty RM packaging materials!!! lol

Yep black it is! Since it's my first RM dress so I want it to be classic and timeless. Also black is my favorite color (it's not even a color hehe). I do plan to pay full price on this one! I have to admit I don't usually pay retaill for a lot of fashion items except my Hermes bags and a few other classics. I used to work in the high fashion industry and got spoiled by discounts. :) And really not a lot of stuff or brands worth retail price IMO. I did pay retail for my classic RO biker jacket though. :) I went to RM's official website for size inquiry and I think Farfetch is their online vendor? That's why when I emailed RM and I got the reply back from farfetch.

I do plan to call their flagship store to order - the only concern is the fit. You know how sometimes you droll over a piece for a long time but when you try it on it just doesn't look right? That's my fear. Being a mom of two toddler boys and working full time, I really don't have time to deal with returns. Ordering should be easy but return will be a big hassle with international transactions. I've been trying to stay away from any international order for that reason .

I love the galaxy style but not sure how the puff sleeves will look on me especially I am petite. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!

oh we are too much alike lol, black is also my favorite "color" but I gave up explaining to people that black is actually the lack of color years ago lol. I really like black and white together and so are most of my everyday clothes. I don't like to pay for full retail price either except for LV, Louboutins, Charlotte Olympia, RO, and Chanel. I still need to venture into the world of Hermes...

Anyhow, I would ask RM's customer service to put you on their waitlist for your size. Usually they will be glad to do this for you. In the meantime, if you're worried about the sizing and puff sleeves, maybe you can go to a boutique that carries RM around you? I dunno where you live, but I guess it's not anywhere near a major store like Neimans or BG? Cuz that would be ideal to try the dress on in person and see if you like the overall look. However, I'm sure you would look lovely in it (especially after having 2 kids and you're like the same size as me?!?! wow... very impressive ). It's just a matter of your own personal taste for the sleeves.
As for the return process, don't worry about it even if you can't try the dress on in person first cuz it's actually quite easy if we're dealing with Farfetch. I'm around in both Canada and USA, so for either countries Farfetch has a great return policy. They come with pre-paid shipping stamps so you just pack things up and call up the courier service to pick up the parcel. No hassle at all.

Let me know how things go :)

I love RM dresses. I do agree that RM does run quite small especially in the waist area.
