Hi ladies!

Okay, I'm freaking out here... I'm going to India for a few weeks (leaving this Thursday!!) and one of my good friend's from college is getting married (the main reason I'm going). Since it's an Indian wedding, there are literally 2932938 events! One of the events is a welcome dinner, and I finally found out what the dress code is - retro!

Ohhh man.

My friend said most people, including her, are doing western retro - "frills, bell bottoms, big prints, colourfull, etc etc stuff..
So be creative :) and I guess acessorize to go with the look.." All in her words. Although, I could do "Bollywood Retro" etc. (an option she also mentioned).. but that might look silly if literally everyone is doing this western retro thing.

Uhh, yeah.

Help!

What should I wear? Keep in mind that I'm trying to pack very lightly, because of the weight limit (on the bag) and all the stuff I want to buy there. I really don't want to pack heavy shoes (wedges), etc. I guess I'd rather do an accessory heavy look haha.

So, should I go for the same, "western retro" look? What exactly would you wear for that look? I don't own cowboy boots and I am not buying them! Or, should I go for a 70s look with bell bottoms, a tee, scarf, draw a peace sign on my cheek, rock a headband and call it a day haha? Hmm, or go with an 80s look that's basically the trend now - leggings, tee (that covers my butt, of course... I hate, hate the
'showing your butt with leggings or - worse yet - tights look'), and a ton of accessories? Hmm, or maybe an Audrey Hepburn-esque pearls + LBD type look?

If you have any ideas on what you think I should wear (style wise) and what I should specifically wear (clothing suggestions), I'd love to hear about them!

I like the idea of a 50's/60's retro. LBd, pearls, opera gloves. Should be easy, and also you can reuse the dress at another event! The whole thing sounds like a BLAST!!!

I'd LOVE to do that, but I think I may end up doing an 80s look... it's just easy to pack for haha.

I was considering a 70s look, but my bell bottoms require heavy wedges, and I can't pack those haha.

It should be a lot of fun... I can't wait!
