Default Help deciding on Mackage leather Jackets

I have really wanted two great leather jackets- one black and one either a cognac color or something in the grey/brown family. I bought a Vince black leather bomber about two months ago but am so-so on the cut because it seems a bit bulky for me as I'm not stick-thin and tall like the person who modeled it online.

I went onto Blue Fly yesterday and snagged the last medium gunmetal alix on sale for $415, but it might be too big- they only had medium and xs when I ordered and I figured I wasn't xs.

After I ordered it, I went onto ssense and saw the Mackage Nev in black and gunmetal and fell in love . I think I like it more than the Alix...however the $650 price tag is quite scary considering I like both of them...and then there's cutoms taxes from Canada too .

I was also thinking about a gunmetal Jerry, but am not sure if the sleeves will be too puffy and if it will be too cropped for my liking.

So, do you think I should return the alix and go with both Nevs, keep the gunmetal alix and keep my Vince even though I'm not a big fan of it, keep the gunmetal ali and buy the black nev, return the alix and wait until the nevs go on sale...if they do, or keep the ali and hope I find a black nev on sale down the road?

By the way- I hate cropped jackets and like something that hits at my hips. I am 5'3" and 125lbs with fairly broad shoulders, muscular arms, a fairly thin waist and a small chest in case that gives you an idea of how they will look on me.

Also- does anyone know if the Nev is available anywhere other than ssense? I really don't want to pay customs on such a high ticket item if I buy both of them.

Many thanks!

Gunmetal Nev

I have the Mackage Alix and LOVE it! I get so many compliments on that jacket. I would suggest that you return the jacket you aren't in love with (the Vince jacket) and keep the Mackage Alix. The Nev is very cute too; you really can't go wrong. I guess it depends on how much you like each one or how much you want to spend. But you got the Alix at a decent price, so hopefully you will love it and keep that one.

The Alix looks HOT. I love the little knit details.

I LOVE Mackage leather jackets! I have the Alix in Oatmeal and it hits at my lower hip (I'm 5'0" for reference). The leather is so soft and yes, it will get you compliments every time you wear it because the craftsmanship on it is something to behold. It runs true to size in my opinion. I was going to grab a black Alix as well, that's how much I adore this jacket.

I bought the bone-colored Jerry jacket and had to return it because, aside from being cropped, the puffy sleeves were way too prominent on my slight frame and made me look like I drive a Delorean!

I think you should definitely return the Vince jacket because leather jackets are too expensive to keep one that you feel so-so about. I love the Nev and if it's from this season (looks like fall/winter Mackage stuff hasn't hit most stores yet) then I imagine it will pop up on some site where you can get it with a discount code. I would try the Alix on and see if you like it -- the only big differences are the oversized buttons and collar, so try it on and see if you like the bigger collar (I like the way it frays out like that, I swear it elongates my neck line). If not, hold out until you can grab the Nev at a better price?

Thanks so much for all the info! I'm really excited about the Alix now, but now I'm worried it's going to be too big. I thought the brand ran small so I went with the medium, but maybe I should have gone with the xs . What if they're sold out before I get mine.

Do you have any problem keeping your oatmeal clean? Will it water stain?

I think I will have the same problem with the jerry too then. I wish I was smaller framed just so it would look great on me, but I'm not a puffy sleeve fan. The big neckline on the alix hides the puff sleeves and the nev doesn't have any.

I guess I will take my chances on the Alix and cross my fingers it fits. If not, I will try to pick up both Nevs when they make it to the states and *hopefully* go on sale! Unless anyone else has other opinions...

I have a Gunmetal Jerry and I absolutely love it. Is it described as cropped? I never noticed that on mine - it goes just past my hips. The gunmetal color is a dark dark grey, almost black, but not quite there. I didn't mind the puff sleeves at all, they're not that obvious and give a little bit of flair. I do think the brand runs small - I'm usually a medium and it was a bit tight on me.

If you like the Nev the best - then I suggest that you send back the vince+ the alix- and get the Nev- then the price tag wont hurt as much

I think a medium should work fine for you -- apparently it does run small, and I think if you plan to wear long sleeves underneath then it's better to err on the larger side. Plus I should also note that most brands that run small (like Juicy) fit true-to-size, so maybe I just run small myself . Of course, if you don't like the fit of the Alix you can always return it and put that money towards the Nev, no?

WRT to wear and tear, I haven't had any problems with it; I live in Seattle and I have yet to see any water stains on it. It's held up beautifully and while I would like to get it professionally cleaned just to get it professionally cleaned, I would consider it a very low-maintenance jacket in terms of cleaning.

Thanks, that's really good to know. So you've been in the rain with it before? I had my eyes on an oatmeal one but was afraid it might stain too easily. I think I'm going to look into treating it with appleguard or something if I get it.

I'll keep my fingers crossed on the medium. Hopefully there's not too much of a size difference and I can wear both a medium and a small in that style.

I think for now if I the gunmetal alix fits and I can snag an oatmeal alix, I will just wait until a black nev goes on sale down the road. That should give me a good variation in colors....just not so good variation for my wallet . With all these gorgeous colors, the Vince is out though!

Yeah, I've seen it look really good on some people and really puffy on thers. I'm not sure what the difference is. The color is gorgeous though .

i think the Alix is a great jacket, and the knit collar is very unique. i think you can try the Alix and see if you like it, if you do, then keep it and get the black Nev, that way you will have 2 leather jackets in 2 different colors that you originally wanted.

do post pics when the Alix comes!!

Does anyone know if the Alix gunmetal is more of a brown or a grey? I love the jacket and I'm trying to decide between gunmetal and black. Thanks!

Thanks so much! I've been checking back all morning and they keep showing only XS and L! I'll keep trying though. I'm pretty sure I need a small and will just return the one that doesn't fit...if I can get a small to start with!
