Default Heartbroken over my new jeans
I hope this doesn't sound overly trivial but I am just really disappointed right now... I bought an amazing pair of True Religion disco julies in a soft distressed black when I was on vacation last month. Anyway, I wore them yesterday for the first time and the front jewelled button popped off! This has never happened to me before and I was so upset because I expected better quality and I can't exchange or return them.

To make matters worse, I just took them to a repair shop and I was told that they can't use the original jewelled button, it will have to be a plain button.

Does anyone know of anything I can do or should I just suck it up and get a mismatched plain button put on so I can at least wear my pants again?

Why not contact True Religion? Many companies will stand by their products, especially something like button repair.

Thanks for the suggestion, I just sent them an email. Am not expecting much, though.

I'm so sorry this happened to you - we all like our clothes to last.

Hopefully TR will sort something out for you.

This is definitely not a trivial matter. We all understand. Everyone expects the best from clothing they paid good money for. I would definitely be really angry/upset. It's really surprising that it happened the first time you wore them! =[

Good luck with TR!

Where did you buy em? I know at Macy's we'll do an exchange/refund for something like that, and customers have shipped merchandise back to the store with the reciept and a letter to have us do it in store when they can't come in.

I got them at a small boutique in downtown Pasadena, and I am not really sure where I put the receipt, plus they were on sale, so I don't expect much from the store. I guess I will have to stick to major retailers from now on.

True Religion will send you a new button...one of my regular button tops popped off and they sent me 3. The trick is finding a seamstress that has the special machine to put them back on......I had to go to several places and finally found someone here that has one.

That would really annoy me. I bought these jeans at nordstroms during the anniversary sale and I'd be upset if I lost a rhinestone! I have found that most clothing manufacturers are pretty nice when it comes to replacement pieces - theory just offered to hunt down fabric for a new belt when my dry cleaner lost the one that matched my shirtdress. Definitely be persistent with TR to see if they will help.

Thanks girlsgottoshop, I am feeling more hopeful now! (Btw I haven't seen you on here for a while!) Did you email or call customer service? If they don't get back to me via email within the week or so, I will definitely call them and hound them for new buttons! I am pretty sure the fabric repair place will have the correct machine, they just can't remove the rivet from the original button. If not, I am sure I can find somewhere in Toronto or Vancouver that will do it.

Now I wonder if I contact Mackage about a missing portion of a belt from a coat that I got last season, will they help me out?

^ I wouldn't hold my breath for parts from last season. There is a chance if they kept extra stock to use that same belt or its components later on in a design for next season (many companies do this to save money).

If your TR jeans are this current season, they should still have the part available to send you. We all like to think that our clothing will outlast us, but these things happen no matter the designer. Sometimes, the machine was having difficulties or the button/hardware they purchased from an outside vendor has different care requirements than the actual garment.

I've sold $90 tee shirts that had buttons that would break. We had no clue why... it turns out that the dryer would heat up the plastic and temporarily make it brittle. If other clothing wasn't in the dryer as a buffer, the brittle plastic would break. The shirts sewn by our company were great quality in the construction and the fabric. But we would have never guessed about the buttons... it was that we had enough feedback from customers about what they did or did not do, that we were able to figure it out and advise people to not put the tees in the dryer.

Update: True Religion emailed me back today (I emailed them today at the proper CS email address) and requested my info so they could forward it to Corporate HQ! So it looks like I will be getting replacement buttons after all, hooray!

I got a pair of jeans in Las vegas. Two weeks later I was in paris and the back middle stitching came off!! Literally my A$$ was hanging out in the air!! and those weren't even TIGHT to begin with!!

so about a month after I purchase I went to the LOS ANGELES store and had them fixed. They should do that, those jeans are meant to last! :) glad to hear they took care of you and your jeans
