Default Favorite Vintage pieces....
I adore vintage clothes, and thought it would be fun to start a thread where we show of our vintage finds. Here's one of my favorites, a gold sequin coat from the 1950's. It is in immaculate condition...ad super fabulous!! Let's see what you've got ladies....

Anne, you are really good at finding great vintage pieces at good prices. I don't have such luck so I have given up on searching. Hunting for deals at Loehmann's is challenging enough. I don't know how you do it...

^^^Thanks so much...I am always sniffing out a bargain! This coat wasn't too cheap though...$200. More than I would normally pay, but although it is hard to tell from the pics...it is probably the most beautiful piece of clothing that I have ever laid eyes on! It is fully lined in the heaviest rose gold satin.
I guess compared to what it would cost now...it was a good price though!!

That is a bad picture of one of my vintage Lanvin pieces. I have a whole vintage Lanvin collection, including pieces designed by Jeanne Lanvin herself.

I can't wait to see some vintage goodies! I want so badly to go to a vintage/consignment shop, find some awesome vintage clothes, and wear them proudly. But it's so hard to find good stuff these days!

Um... I have to pick a FEW?!
My mom has a lot of antique and vintage purses. She really likes the mesh ones from the 1920s. Someday I'll find a vintage chanel for myself.
My mom and I both love vintage clothes. I have a vintage prom dress from the 1950s (blue toile) that she bought on eBay for herself. It didn't fit her so I took it! I will totally take some pictures of it. I'm going to wear it to my senior prom.
I've got a lot of vintage hats, furs, and coats. I once bought two coats at an estate sale for $15. Both are wool. One is like a trench coat and is camel-colored and the other is almost military style and is a light greyish lavender. I have a couple victorian pieces as well... I'm proud to say that I also restored a bodice. I should pull it out again and check it over and perhaps take some better pictures... these are over 2 years old.

It's not practical but it was a bargain at $15. The ladies running the estate sale said that it had fallen apart but when I looked it over that clearly wasn't the case. They just couldn't put the right snaps to the right snaps.

I have a lot of hats. I wish I had some pictures of my favorites handy but I can't find them. I'll take some later on. I do have a picture of one of my most comfortable and warm hats.

I may live in california but nothing keeps the frost off my ears like my black rabbit ushanka hat.

My best find is probably my Versace dress. It's not very old, per se, but it hails from the late 80s. It's wool crepe. I found it at my favorite thrift store, Thrift Town. It was priced at $40 but I got it for $20 as pink-tagged items were half off that day. I couldn't believe my freaking luck! I wasn't quite sure what I was going to wear it (winter formal? Prom? Everywhere?) but when I brought it home, I knew I had my graduation dress. my mom had been telling me that I shouldn't feel like I had to buy my grad dress secondhand because we were consolidating bills... but when I showed her the dress she couldn't believe it!

That Lanvin dress is beautiful!

My fave vintage buy ever (I think it's pony hair with fur trim):

this dress (was my mom's, and she used it during her early stages of pregnancy...with me!)

I discovered quite recently the vintage and second hand shops. My first buy was this red dress for 10 euros, from the 70's I guess. I really had fun trying to pair it with modern stuff.

Here with a borsalino "La Redoute", a Comptoir des Cotonniers belt and Chloe shoes

I knew I was going to see some fabulous goodies!!

*Shoulderache-what can I say....that dress is TDF. I would love to see more....
*Coldsteel-When I was in high school, I had already started shopping vintage and secondhand. 17 years later...I still love it! The Victorian blouse is gorgeous...and I remember your story about the Versace dress. What a find!! It is a classic!
*Brigadeiro-I also love the coat, and have a wool coat that s similar with huge fur cuffs and collar. But I really LOVE that dress. It is so.....cute!!
*Walinette- You made that dress totally modern. It looks great with the hat!!

Great thread, annemerrick! I have a bunch of treasures, hopefully I will get a chance to post some later. Unfortunately some of my best ones are in storage with my mother in Arizona. Now, she had quite the collection when she was young- it's all mine now! One of my favorites is a WWII style bomber jacket that she got when MGM studios went bankrupt... they had a tag sale of their wardrobe and prop departments and she got this jacket. It's soo warm. That's in AZ but I've got a couple things with me here.

I cannot wait to visit my mother in Florida next month. She has a few amazing pieces that I am dying to get my hands on. Her biggest prblem, is that she has so many things packed up in storage that haven't been seen in 20 years or so!!! We were talking recently, and she said, Oh honey, I bet you would love my Chanel dress." My ears perked up...Chanel dress..you betcha I would like it! She then went on to explain how it was on the cover of Vogue way back when...and she hunted it down, etc...etc....she then told me it was in one of her MANY boxes, and she was sure she would come across it one day!! Thaose would be the same boxes that house her vintage magazine clutches, and other faulous things I don't even know about!!!! I was upset she even told me about the Chanel dress...what a tease!!!!!
