Ebay is fantastic for finding vintage! That is where most of the vintage stuff that I own right now came from one time or another.
Also, figure out where the elderly people in your area donate too. Seriously. I grew up in an area FULL of retired people and I always found the coolest vintage dresses. I just moved and where will I be looking to shop? The GoodWill in the wealthy retirement community down the road. Also, consignment shops sometimes have some great vintage selection.

I almost forgot about one of my favorite coats! It's from the 1920s. It's black velvet with an ermine collar. The lining is absolutely shot - there wasn't too much left in it when we bought it but otherwise it looks fine. No one really sees the lining as long as you're wearing it. It's so beautiful.

I am going to revive this thread....anyone have any new pics??? I did end up picking up the most fantastic coat that my Mom bought at Biba in the early 7's, when I visited in October. I will take pics, and post tomorrow. Also, I will see if I can find any other goodies I have found recently!!!

You all have amazing stuff!!! I would like to get into it too because I love antiques and especially clothing.
But anyway, here is one of my probably most fav. bags that is over 25 years old and made of leather and carpet. I get so many comments about it because it's such a lovely piece, looking into restoring the strap and maintaining the leather. |

Annemerrick, all of your vintage things are amazing! And you have such wonderful taste. I'm not really into fur, because of the cruelty behind it and really the look of it, but I think vintage is the way to go on such things, and the pieces you have are so elegant! And you got such amazing deals! Especially on that Valentino dress! $6?! That's crazy!

^^^I agree about the fur. I wouldn't buy new fur, but feel like fur that has already been in circulation deserves to be loved and appreciated!! The Valentino dress is amazing on. The first red sating band, cinches i the waist, so the top blouses, and the second red sating band creates a ruffle at the bottom. The dress is fantastic on....

OMG, I can't believe I haven't seen this thread yet! Where have I been?
Anyway, this is definitely my most favorite vintage piece, it was what I wore to get married, made of cream colored wool with a mink collar. It was perfect for me. Here's the pic from the site I bought it from but you can see it on me in my pics on my TPF profile. I'll post some more vintage pieces later.

Everyone has such lovely coats and stuff!
Today, after school, I went to thrift town with the intent of finding some cardigans. Alas, none were to be found (sob) but I scored a totally awesome WOOL ESCADA JACKET FOR $6! I'll post some pictures later... I'm supposed to be working on an essay right now (shh... don't tell!) but here's my Emmanuel Ungaro coat and my Dior coat... both thrifted for $6 each! ![]() Dior ![]() Ungaro I also have an extensive hat collection. This is but one. I also picked up the skirt at Thrift Town... I love it. I feel very mary poppins when I wear it. The rather beat-up gucci bag is ALSO from TT... and the shoes, too (ferragamo pumps!). The bag is the perfect size for my SLR and my shoes have little ferragamo shoe medallions on them. ![]() ![]() I don't think I could choose just one favorite thing! |
