what are your opinions on wearing riding boots with flowy dresses that are just an inch above the knee? or if the dress is exactly knee length?

My favorite little boutique store just sent me an e-mail about dresses and boots! They showed pictures of it and it looks fabulous.,

I prefer dresses that are bit above the knee for the boot dress combination- but one of my friends does it the way you described all the time and it looks very pretty on her- its a really lovely look when done right I think.

I wanted to start a thread about this very thing!
I would love to see pics of casual dresses/tunics with riding boots, tights. I'm having a really hard time finding the right dress to wear like this. I have 1 black one I got at F21..but haven't found much that works...even online...anyone with any pics or ideas...??

I wear all my casual dresses with boots. I don't have modeling pics, but I can dig up the stock pictures of the separate pieces. A lot of my dresses are Prairie Underground.
Here is one I have (in a washed black). It's just above the knee on me, and I wear with camel suede Fryes. OP, I don't wear a lot of flowy dresses, but I've seen tons of pictures of that style and I think it's super cute. I want to say there are pics in the Urban Outfitters catalogue? |

i wear short jersey dresses (around knee legnth) with flat riding boots to work all the time. lots of ella moss and lately some bailey 44. i usually wear tights and pair the dresses with a love quotes scarf to make them more work appropriate. i get tired of wearing dress pants to work, so it's a good alternative for me, especially in the winter when pants can get ruined by the elements.

^^^ Thanks...this all helps..
![]() I have the Fryes, scarves, tights, sweaters to go over....but no dresses( a bit above knee length is what I want, I think)...I've been hunting on Revolve, UO, Anthro..etc and think that I might be overthinking it all...lol..it just seems like the ones I come across are either tee shirts that are long(that I wouldn't wear)..or dresses that are tight fitting..where are all the in~between cute ones?...*** off to hunt some more*** |

What is the weather like where you are? This is probably the cutest dress I have to wear with boots, although it doesn't work for the below-freezing temps here now. I couldn't find a good picture of it, but it is MUCH cuter IRL, I pull the criss cross over the bust up a little and the skirt has more shape (kinda poofy in the middle) than pictured. Also, I love pockets! Brand is Plastic Island, on sale at Chick Downtown right now. |

http://www.chickdowntown.com/viewproduct.asp?ID=138877 There's an XS not on sale here, and I haven't heard of the store before: http://www.stantonjames.com/plastic-...ess-p-483.html It's the Plastic Island Working Girl Dress if you want to look around for it elsewhere. This is the one dress that seems MADE for me boots, it just doesn't look as good with anything else. What boots do you have? I don't think it's super dressy since it's cotton and low-key colors. |

i think it looks ok as long as the dress isn't a super light, flowy summer dress. that would look mismatched to me, like uggs and short shorts.
