Same for me!

I have brown hair; I will only wear brown if it is fur. Between my brown hair and olive skin, brown clothes will make me look like an acorn.

I have dark brown hair and dont tend to wear any dark brown either on my top half anyway. Have a dark brown pair of skinnys but thats about it anyway!

I think it would be much harder to wear orange however if you had red hair!

I've never really thought it before. I have blonde hair and warm pale skin. I find if I wear something too close to my hair/skin colour it makes me look washed out. On the other hand, I don't wear brown ever and although I have many black pieces I find it can look harsh on me.

I am much more drawn to Navy/Grey for darks and white/cream for lights.

I have gold blonde hair and light olive skin that tans well and whenever i wear a blonde/beige coloured garment on the top half i always feel i look too bland, so to detract i'll use a toning or contrasting scarf to break it up.

2 years ago i bought an exquisite (not to mention expensive) shearling coat in a blonde colour and ...... it's the same colour as me ....... it just looks odd and i really wish i'd bought the chocolate brown version
It was a very expensive lesson learned.

I'm a brunette but I don't really like brown and I tend to wear mostly black. I love total black outfits - they're very chic in my opinion - and if I feel like adding some colour I simply put on a scarf.

Oooh sorry to hear. That color shearling sounds so lush. Do you feel that wearing a black scarf might go a little way to solving the problem.?

This is an interesting thread! It sounds like many of us wear a contrast between hair and clothes, although I very much like the monochrome look when I see it on others. Millicat, I bet you look amazing in that coat! There is something edgy and modern about that monochrome look, especially when makeup (like a bright lipstick or smoky eye) or a striking accessory sets off the whole look. I think its a very subtle way of looking very modern and put together!

My hair color is some weird hybrid of dark brown/off-black. In many lights it will appear almost black (if not black) but in the sunlight it is clearly dark brown. I don't own anything the same shade as my hair but I do wear brown and black.

You did not ask a dumb question and going by the replies I am the exception rather than the rule, with black on black.

I do that very thing - well actually it's a dark navy blue.
I love to wear the coat with either faded jeans - if i feel like dressing it down, or with dark denim and i find the blue scarf does indeed add the break in colour.
I'll see if i can find a pic of that coat

I'm not sure if this will work but this is a picture of the coat, it's the Himalayan coat, on the left side of the pic.

Your Shearling is beautiful indeed. I wouldn't beat yourself up about the color, with the scarf breaking the color it sounds like it works - perfectly!
