Default Do you think this outfit would be work appropriate?

Background: I work at an insurance company, in the claims department. We're not a very fancy office. The dress code is "business casual" but it's more on the casual side. On Fridays we even can wear jeans. We do not see customers in the office.

The outfit: I bought this tunic today and want to pair it with black leggings and heels. I have calf-length leggings and ankle length leggings that I could pair it with. I'm only 5'4" so the tunic hits me right above the knee, a bit shorter than a dress I would normally wear but it covers my butt and upper thighs. The question is, is it work appropriate?

It's not my style, so I would not wear it. I used to work for insurance also with the same dress code. I personally found that the more professional you dressed, the more chances you got noticed by management and you got better reviews if you played the company's game.

Just becareful that your co-workers will not grow to hate you. Be personal with them but limit your gossip so that you will not become a victim by your peers and not get ms. popularity and chances are that you won't get promoted.

I would keep that look for going out with friends or going to a casual fashion show.

Yeah, I think that's more how I was leaning...I'm not going for a career in insurance, just biding my time until I graduate from grad school with my MBA. Luckily my manager loves me and my work and I stay away from the gossipy women in my department.

Luckily I have many places I can wear this outfit to - thanks everyone!

Then go ahead and wear it...just don't wear it when brokers come visit your department.

I would think it's okay unless it's really tight on you, and then I think it might be a little too sexy for work.
