You are right. I see the same seam you do. The weird thing is that I am wearing my brown Spanx cropped tights at this very moment, and they do not have seams. The are called Spanx Tight End Footless Tights. Here is a better picture from Mytights.com

Ah, now they're definitely footless tights, not leggings.

They've even got the panty section!

Those are leggings. And very cute I might add! I just bought my first pair today and am looking forward to wearing them under skirts/dresses or long shirts. OK they're not exactly my "first" pair....those would be the ones I had back in high school in the '80s!

When they first came back "in," I was REVOLTED. But now after it's sort of sunk in a little, I can see their merits. Comfy, versatile, and flattering (as long as you're wearing them with something that covers your butt!). The only downside in my opinion is seeing foofy starlets like Lindsay and Nicole wearing them....only because they annoy me!
