Default Designer Dresses-Everyday or One time use?

I was just wondering...

With designer dresses, do you girls [or guys] wear them once for a special event [like celebrities]?

or do you incorporate them into your wardrobe to wear as a day dress or a more casual outfit from time to time?

or does it just depend on the dress?

I was just curious because personally I can't imagine spending a few hundreds on a dress I was only going to wear for one occasion.

Thanks!

I incorporate my designer dresses into my everyday wardrobe. They're meant to be worn and I mix and match them with no name brands also. For instance, I wear my Chanel jacket with Zara jeans on any regular day. The only exception if it's an evening gown, then, of course, I'll only wear it for those occassions.

It depends on the dress. I don't like wearing the same dress/outfit around the same person, but I usually have enough events that I will wear the same dress at least a few times.

I fall sorta somewhere in between. I work from home and spend more time in my car than with clients. I go into the office at least once a week so I tend to wear my nicer clothes just on those days just to get some use out of them.

I have quite few cocktail dresses that I've worn only once mostly because I hang out with the same group of people when I do have the occasions to get dressed up and I refuse to wear the same outfit twice if I can avoid it. It's getting kinda hard though year after year.

As for formal wear, I had a magenta Carmen Marc Valvo gown altered so I could wear it as a cocktail dress. It came out great. I highly encourage it.

Definitely incorporate into your everyday wardrobe. I'm always flipping through Lucky magazine. There are such great ideas in how to wear a particular article of clothing for a formal and fancy event, and then turn it around for a casual and everyday outing.

I agree it depends on the dress. I have some I wear out more than the ones I use for very special events.

For the most part, I incorporate my designer dresses into my wardrobe. However, I do have some ballgowns that I have only worn one time each. We usually attend at least one black-tie event each year. My DH always asks why I can't rotate the dresses each year. He insists that no one will know the difference! Sounds like a typical male, doesn't it?!

ABSOLUTELY! My guy friends are always so clueless about these sort of things... they just don't understand. I don't think they ever will...

I wear my Chanel suits on a daily basis, that's how I justify the price tag! But I usually reserve my designer dresses for special ocassions so they never lose their appeal.

If it's something that can be worn on a daily basis, I say go for it. Why spend all that money and not wear it on the regular.

I wish i could incorporate my designer dresses into my everyday wardrobe! I work at a bank and im always tempted to wear one of my herve legar dresses with a cute shrug or blazer or something but id still feel so dressed up (while everyone else usually isnt). Im also not sure how appropriate wearing the slim fitting dresses would be there :(
SO....i end up buying the dresses because i lovvvvvvvvve them, but they usually only get worn a few times only after spacing out the events that they're worn to, and after making sure im not with the same group of friends lol
