i love a pair of lv sunglasses, but i'm not *quite* ready to spend that on sunglasses. if i can't find any others, i will. i want/need polarized lenses, but i'd like them to be tortoiseshell type glasses- not athletic. i like the larger frames, but not superhuge. aviators are completely out- i look like an idiot in them.

any brands (and where to get them) would be appreciated! i've never bought 'good' sunglasses before and i'd like to soon...

I love dvb by Victoria Beckham. The quality is great, and the styles are timeless and not to mention the great fit. I've got 3 - aviators, oversized ones, and visors.

I LOVE them!

Also, I like Gucci's aviators.

also, i have a tortoise fendi pair that i got from off 5th for less than $80. they are oversized, but not in the overdone way. try off 5th and last call, esp the one at jersey gardens if you're anywhere nearby.

^ Yes! Check Off 5th, Loehmanns(or Smart Bargains.com), Nordstrom Rack or Neiman's Last Call, if possible. You can always find really cute sunglasses for under $100. For super classic looking glasses, I like Dior. For classic with somewhat of a trendy edge, I like Tom Ford and Oliver Peoples.

Chanel sunglasses are the best IMO. I've had others before, but found the Chanel lenses really shield your eyes from the sun!

Definitely try Loehmann's and you can probably find a bargain on designer sunglasses. I've also heard of great finds at Ross.

Or you can always wait for Saks F&F to get 20% off. I think there's a Bloomie's F&F coming up too in a few months.

I love love love my Gucci sunglasses!!! They are a polarized, tortoise shell in a very classic square shape. I got them at NM this summer. By far, the best sunglasses I have ever bought and I know they will never go out of style!

for sunglasses, you really should try them on, no matter the brand or price. your head size/shape and bone structure will make you look vastly different in certain frames from the people recommending them. my face is round, for example, and my head is kinda big, but my roommate's head is smaller than average and her bone structure more fine, so she looks absolutely SILLY in my sunglasses. go to a department store that carries a wide selection of brands and spend some time trying on different things to see what works for you. that's how i found my perfect Gucci tortoise shell frames; i actually went in to the store intending to buy a completely different pair.

thanks everyone, so much! i went back to the sunglass hut to return the sunglasses i bought. i also returned the lvs i bought. the gentleman working at the shop rec. persol to me- and i loved them. handmade, classic looking and polarized- everything i wanted and 1/3 the cost of the lvs. i am really happy!!!

I have the hardest time finding sunglasses that look good on me. I think my face must be shaped funny or something. I have one pair I've had forever but I want a new pair. I think my best bet would be to go to Saks and ask for help. I just can't look at them online and tell what would actually look good on me.
