Question Buying SWIMWEAR online

Good idea? Bad idea?

Is a bikini something I MUST try on? There's one on sale at macy's that's a halter style string bikini with simple bottoms that I'm liking very much, a good price too. But I've never tried this particular one on. I'm stuck on sizing, any tips? Or is it too risky? I know I can return and exchange and all, but I don't want to drop the ball while good suits are still in stock at a good price, kwim?

Thanks

i think its a bad idea. i bought one off BlueFly last year that looked SO cute online. and when it came, it was cute, but the material wasn't THAT great. if i had seen it in the store and tried it on, i would never have purchased it. the material is key for me in a bathing suit, as i want it to last....

If you really like it and can't find it in store, I would try with ordering. Usually you can return stuff when it doesn't fit. But you have to check with the store policy before.

I've ordered an Dolce and an Emilio Pucci bikini online (both non returnable) and they both turned out ok. Ofcourse it's always abit risky ordering something without first seeing it irl, but if you are able to return it then I'd definietly say go for it.. chances are higher to be pleased than disappointed imo. Try to search info about its sizing, like what other people have said about the brand and if you find no warnings then just go with your regular size. (Though if you've usually only bought bikinis from big low price chain of stores I suggest sizing up one size since designer bikinis are generally smaller in sizes.)
Also note that most stores dont accept returns of bikinis and lingerie because of sanitary reasons.

The only time I have ever ordered a bikini online, was through Victoria's Secret. It was a great bikini and I wore it for almost 3 summers! I don't know if I would do it again though since my body has changed and I am so difficult with purchasing clothes now. Check out what the return policy is and if you really want it, order it.
